Piano with Jo-Anne J.

My name is Jo-Anne. I am so thankful to my mother who pushed me and allowed me to learn how to play the piano! I remember when I started private piano lessons how much I disliked it! My teacher realized this and began to appeal to my strengths. I ended up having fun and I want to ensure that same experience for the students I teach. I will admit I hated practicing but once I began to enjoy it, I got better at it because I practiced. Learning music is fun as long as we work hard! My motto is work hard, play hard. Not only did I learn how to play, I learned perseverance, patience, and time management. After high school, I attended Rollins College and continued studying piano with Dr. Cook. She taught me that teaching music is just as important as playing music and that’s where my love for teaching piano came about. Not only do I love and enjoy classical music, I am also very skilled in other genres especially reggae music from the island of Jamaica. I play at various churches, events, weddings, etc and I look forward to sharing my expertise with all of you!
