I am the Worship Director at a Vineyard church in Billings, Montana, and have my own virtual Spiritual Direction practice (a form of pastoral care). I lead worship from both piano and guitar (though not at the same time!) and write songs and liturgy for my church and the larger worship community. I studied music composition at the City University of New York and have taught private piano, guitar and voice lessons for 15+ years. Once upon a time, I desired to "make it" in the music and songwriting industry in NYC and Nashville and had some moderate success. Beautifully, God shifted my trajectory and I ended up in the church with my husband and our daughters. I never intended to lead worship, but it found me and I am deeply changed because of it. I teach my clients in my creative and comfortable home teaching studio. I work primarily with piano/keyboard students (beginner through advanced) that want some traditional piano skills and technique, but lean toward modern keyboard stylings and play in a band (or hope to). My students learn to read sheet music, but also know how to improvise with a chord chart or replicate a melodic line they hear on a recording. Want to play, for example, "What a Beautiful Name" but can only find the (less than perfect) chord chard online? I'm your gal. Does your worship pastor need you to play the intro riff for Bethel's "It Is Well" in 7/8 time (who does that!)? We can get it done. Please message me with any questions you might have.
