About Jeneal J.
Hi, there! My name is Jeneal, I'm a musical theatre major, professional actor & I can't wait to meet you! I've been teaching privately since 2015, I've been a teachers assistant since 2008 & I'm now a theatre teacher at a camp for kids grades 2 through 12. I love helping my students find confidence & relate theatre to life. I've been training in theatre since I was 7 years old even being accepted into multiple programs in the Baltimore area. I've also trained in acting for film at TSAW under the amazing Tasha Smith. I believe an actor is always learning so I also take classes once a week to continue my studies under Shiek Bey. This past summer I made my debut as an assistant director for AIDA. I'm a fun & outgoing person and my teaching style is the same: unique, fun, & challenging. I love to understand who my students are & what they are trying to gain from their lessons. I believe in building stamina & being in as many programs you can use to perfect your craft. Based on what you're looking for we will do monologue/scene work, voice and diction, & improvisation. I will offer a group session in order to learn about working with an ensemble we will meet once a week. Whether you want this for your life or if you're trying to get out of your comfort zone, I'm here for you. Theatre is about taking off your mask and being your most vulnerable, not acting. If you're acting you are doing it wrong. I am not a teacher who shies away from vulnerability. All of the teachers who impacted my life have shared a cry with me. Don't worry, I'm not expecting you to cry, but I am hoping you will open up and allow me to help you on this journey of becoming an actor. Acting is living TRUTHFULLY through imaginary but REAL circumstances. I look forward to working with you.
I know Covid-19 has everyone on edge, to ensure safety I am doing virtual lessons. With these virtual lessons I am trying to find a way to incorporate group classes.
