Master of Music in Saxophone Performance

    About Janos C.

I am a professional saxophonist actively performing and teaching in the Chicago area. I graduated with my bachelor’s degree in saxophone performance from University of the Pacific and my master’s degree in saxophone performance from Northwestern University. With over 9 years of experience teaching saxophone privately, I am comfortable teaching students of all ages and experience levels. As a teacher, my primary goal is to foster a genuine love and appreciation for music in all of my students. Students who come to me for lessons can expect an appropriately challenging, but fun and rewarding experience that encourages a balance of repertoire study, listening to recordings of great masters, and appropriate growth in music fundamentals. Every student will have unique challenges and learning styles, which is why I make it a priority to get to know each of my students on both a musical and personal level. Having studied music for many years, I understand the importance of having a teacher that is not only a great instructor, but also an equally great mentor that will help the student achieve their musical and professional goals. Through solo and chamber performances, I maintain an active performing career playing around Chicago and touring all over the country. I am currently the baritone saxophonist and Director of Finance for the award-winning saxophone quartet ~Nois, which has quickly emerged as one of the premier young ensembles dedicated to the promotion of contemporary music. As a soloist, I have performed recitals and taught master classes at universities in California, Tennessee, and Ohio. I also won the grand prizes for both the Auburn Symphony Young Artist Competition and the University of the Pacific Concerto Competition. In order to adapt to the unique needs of each student, I am comfortable teaching a wide range of styles including classical, contemporary, and jazz music. I look forward to hearing from you and helping you to become the musician you want to be!
