I have been playing guitar for 10 years and have played bass guitar and ukulele for 3. I have taken lessons for years, am currently studying music at St. Charles community college where I plan to transfer upon the completion of my associates degree, as well as teaching others. I regularly attend open mic nights and have played at coffeehouses and other venues around st. Louis/ st. Charles area including the plush, the Oprah house, and others. My lessons will depend on the playing ability of the student. In general for beginners, I start by teaching them the basics about their instruments as well as teaching them to read tabs and chord charts. I then teach a small group of chords that will enable them to play along with popular songs that they would enjoy allowing them to begin serious practice early. I will teach students songs of their choice gradually building up their knowledge of chords and working on various rhythms. Once the student has mastered basic chords I would like to move into theory, ear training, scales etc. in order to have them truly understand the music they are playing. However, I recognize these principles are intimidating to beginners or intermediate players and will not push these concepts until the student is ready. Because I am fairly young it is easy for me to communicate with younger students. I urge the reader to not take this as immaturity, I speak proper English and am more than knowledgeable enough to teach middle-aged or older students. My lessons are catered to the specific student and I spend a lot of time working outside of lessons to enrich the learning experience for my students. Students should take lessons with me because I truly want to share the gift of music with my students. My rates are generally cheaper than other teachers, I am willing to travel to my students. But more importantly, introducing music to others and helping them progress is what I'm here to do. Frankly, I would teach for free if i didn't have bills to pay.
