    About Harry W.

I moved to New York in 2017 after 10 years of working as an actor in UK theatre. I have worked with some of the UK's top theatre companies, like The Royal Shakespeare Company, and in the West End. My experiences working with top practitioners and artists, like Cicely Berry and Michelle Terry, have given me an understanding of how to approach classical text in a way that is simple and not mysterious. We will break down the text together to give you a personal relationship to your character's objectives. I set up my coaching business in October 2017 and already have helped students to get into prestigious grad school acting programmes, including Yale School of Drama! "Harry's coaching has helped me get to final rounds of top UK acting schools and accepted to Yale School of Drama! We worked both on classical and contemporary monologues. My biggest challenges were with the Shakespeare pieces. Harry helped me gain a better understanding of the meaning of the classical language by working to create a strong personal connection with the text - I felt that in this way the language became closer to me and my reality. Although my first language is Spanish, finding an honest connection with the text and working with Harry on dialect meant that this wasn't a barrier for me anymore. Harry also helped me find ways to be as relaxed as I could before I entered the audition room and we worked on voice and body warm up and focus exercises. I really recommend his coaching!" - Maia Mihanovich, 2018

Harry has helped me prepare for many successful auditions: Shakespeare, television, contemporary monologues, an agent meeting (who I started working with btw) and otherwise! I've gotten callbacks and bookings! But also he's just the best coach and very kind. His insight is unmatched - he's amazing at getting me to my most authentic performance of any text I bring him! Thanks again fir everything Harry!

Harry is such a deeply thoughtful and sensitive teacher! I hadn't had so much experience with Shakespeare when I began working with him. He really helped me navigate the language in ways that were easy to absorb and practice. I would recommend Harry to anyone wanting to further their work, especially when foraying into Shakespeare.

    Experience

    Actor (Narrator in "Puffs")

    Aug, 2018 - Present

    New World Stages, Off-Broadway

I'm currently playing The Narrator in the hit Off-Broadway comedy play PUFFS at New World Stages.

    Actor (Regan in "King Lear")

    May, 2018 - Jun, 2018

    The Shakespeare Forum, NYC

I played Regan in this gender-fluid production of King Lear, directed by Sybille Bruun. "LEAR features color- and gender-blind casting: Frankie DiCiaccio as Cordelia and Harry Waller as Regan are particularly wonderful, and Rami Margron is beautifully expressive as Edgar. As the play progresses, it becomes clear that this cast could pull off literally anything." Erin K.

    Actor ("Boundless as the Sea")

    Oct, 2017 - Oct, 2017

Royal Shakespeare Company at the New York Times

I performed several Shakespeare scenes, speeches and songs in a specially devised performance at the NYTimes for the Royal Shakespeare Company. Conceived and directed by Owen Horsley, the three-hander featured Joan Iyiola, Ken Nwosu and me.

Actor (Balthasar in "Much Ado About Nothing")

    Jun, 2016 - Apr, 2017

Royal Shakespeare Company (Theatre Royal Haymarket, London)

I played Balthasar and understudied Don John in the RSC's hit 5* production of "Much Ado About Nothing" in the West End. Directed by Christopher Luscombe.

Actor (Understudy Longaville in "Love's Labour's Lost")

    Jun, 2016 - Apr, 2017

Royal Shakespeare Company (Theatre Royal Haymarket, London)

Actor (Slightly Soiled in "Wendy & Peter Pan")

    Sep, 2015 - Feb, 2016

    Royal Shakespeare Company (Stratford-Upon-Avon)

I played Slightly Soiled in Ella Hickson's "Wendy & Peter Pan" at the Royal Shakespeare Theatre in Stratford-Upon-Avon. Directed by Jonathan Munby.

Actor (Smithy in "The Christmas Truce")

    Sep, 2014 - Jan, 2015

    Royal Shakespeare Company (Stratford-Upon-Avon)

I played Smithy, the perennially miserable soldier, in the world premiere of Phil Porter's "The Christmas Truce" with the Royal Shakespeare Company. Directed by Erica Whyman, the RSC's Deputy Artistic Director, the play marked the centenary of the outbreak of the First World War and told the famous true story of the unofficial truce between the German and British troops over Christmas.
