I'm a member of the Indianapolis Piano Teachers Association and work as a staff accompanist for the Butler University Department of Dance. I structure my lessons according to students' individual interests and strengths, while building a strong foundation in piano technique and music theory. With beginning and intermediate students I typically use the Piano Adventures series, which I supplement with music in a variety of styles ranging from authentic classical repertoire to jazz. Whatever your experience or goals, we'll work together to come up with a plan that works for you. I'm a patient, encouraging teacher and we have fun during lessons. I also expect my students to practice daily at home so that they can make steady progress. PLEASE NOTE: Students need to have a piano, whether acoustic or digital, to practice on at home. This is necessary in order for students to progress and to develop good piano technique. If you prefer to purchase an electric piano, look for one with touch-sensitive, weighted keys, which will mimic the feel of an acoustic piano. If you do not have a piano, I'm happy to offer advice on finding one!
