My two basic goals at the core of my teaching philosophy:
To help the students develop the skills on the trumpet, through technical and physical development, with the long-range goal of developing a student’s ability to successfully pursue a career of teaching and/or performing if that is their choice.
To help bring his or her soul into each performance on the trumpet, and to help the student learn to tell a story, paint a picture, and create a mood – the language of the music.

About Dr. Arthur P.

Arthur as a professional trumpet player is a skilled musician in classical, commercial, and jazz idioms and has been one of L.A.’s and New York's first call trumpeters for commercial recordings, television and motion pictures, and live theater. He has contributed to albums for many popular artists, including Smokey Robinson, The Temptations, M.F.S.B, Coldplay, and Michael Buble. His television credits include every major awards show: the Grammys, the Emmys, the Academy Awards, the Golden Globes, and the Screen Actors Guild Awards. Arthur has been a trumpeter on the wildly popular television show, “Dancing with The Stars” for five seasons dating back to its inception in 2005. He was also lead trumpeter for the mega-hit show, “American Idol” in seasons 1-3. Arthur has appeared regularly on the soundtracks of hit television shows like “Family Guy”, “American Dad”, “King of the Hill” and many others.

Because the lessons are in our home, it’s been a very relaxed, enjoyable experience for our son and that was important to us. His former teacher was great, but Dr. Pugh has pushed him to an entirely different place musically. Dr. Pugh’s professionalism and enthusiasm for music are inspiring and he has brought our son’s trumpet playing to another level.
