Hello! I'm Dominic R. (though I'm commonly known as "that guy" to very close friends) and I'm an artist. I'm an actor, teacher, singer, comedian, writer, graphic designer, and a really, horribly novice ukulele player. People ask how long I have been an actor for and generally don't believe me when I tell them I've been acting almost my whole life! Since my days as an Oscar Meyer Weiner kid, it's just been in my blood. I. LOVE. ACTING. And I love sharing my passion for that with other people, actors and non-actors alike. I have ten years of professional acting experience in Chicagoland and New York, I'm an instructor at the Actors Training Center in Wilmette, and I am the Founding Artistic Director of Lantern Theatre: A Marist Performing Arts Group. I'm a 2013 graduate of Columbia College Chicago (BA: Acting) and 2011 graduate of The Second City's Comedy Studies Program. When I teach, each class is structured based off the student's individual wants and goals, but all of my acting coaching relationships start with a chat! What are your goals with acting lessons? What are your career goals? What sort of experience, or lack-thereof, do you have in the field? Do you have any dream roles from movies, TV, musicals, plays, etc.? Who are your favorite actors? I believe that it's important for an acting coach to get a sense of their student's mannerisms, sense of humor, and general personality. Chatting about the items above give me a sense of who you are as a person, as well! The beautiful thing about actors is that they HAVE TO come in all shapes, colors, ages, and sizes!! I have coached six year olds, I have coached 80 year olds, I have coached Shakespearean sonnets, and I have coached improvised comedy sketch material. No matter the background of the actor, the techniques stay the same!
