I have been teaching students and conducting groups of vocalists and instrumentalists for over 30 years. It’s one of my passions! Why? Because I love the interaction with people, the camaraderie of making music together, the reward of everyone reaching for their potential and accomplishing things they might not achieve on their own! My career in music has taken a many forms, such as Tour/Music Director for an international touring group called Celebrant Singers, Worship Arts Associate Pastor at Peoples Church in Fresno, California, and Pastor of Performing Arts at Gateway Church in Southlake, Texas. I've also taught private lessons in public school (Northwest ISD and Carrollton-Farmer's Branch ISD) and in after-school string enrichment programs. Regular comments from people I have worked with are: “You inspire me to be a better performer.” “Patience is your weapon. The peace that surrounds you, then flows to us, allows us to stay positive and focused!” “Your sweet spirit and gentle encouragement have created such a safe atmosphere.” “I grew so much personally and professionally.” “Some of my favorite practice times were in the rehearsal room!” We will work hard in our lessons; learning an instrument takes commitment. At the same time, you'll grow and refine your skills as a musician. The effort you put in will be reflected in how you develop. Music assignments (including region, all-state, and solo competition pieces) are designed to develop technique, teach basic music theory, and introduce musical literature characteristic of the cello. If that sounds appealing to you, then let's get started!

David is an incredibly versatile musician, and offers a unique set of skills to his private lessons students from his vast experience in performing and teaching cello, as well as conducting, arranging and musical theater production. He is an excellent performer and is equally comfortable playing classical styles as he is playing popular music. Lastly, David is one of the most professional individuals I have ever worked with, and is a generous and kind-hearted person.

I began taking lessons with Mr. Schubert when I was four, and for the next nine years I was given a solid foundation of music theory while I learned my instrument. Being under his teaching helped me to develop a broader and deeper understanding of music and my instrument, which has opened many doors for me throughout the years. I am very thankful to have taken lessons from Mr. Schubert!
