I've been playing the guitar for over 23 years now and teaching for over 18. In 2006, I received his BA in Jazz performance from U-Mass Amherst and since then I've performed anywhere from local bars and cafes, in pits for musical theater, as a show band musician for Carnival Cruise Lines and has even been fortunate enough to have played with James Taylor and Nigel Hall.
In college, I started teaching to make some spending money and quickly realized it was a passion of mine. After college I took a slight hiatus between teaching conversational English in France and the whole Cruise ship thing, but once I made it back to land, I began teaching for a local music school, music store and the local community college as well before I decided to move to Denver in 2013. Since then I've taught for several local music stores before I finally opened up my own operation which is now known as dB's Sound Education based out of Flipside Music. I also perform locally with Pandas and People.
Formally "Dave B.'s Music Lessons", dB's Sound Education is a music school offers lessons for most popular instruments.

Dave is the best instructor I could have hoped for. As an older beginner, I was not sure how much I could pick up but I have made good progress in the past year with his lessons. Lots of fun, look forward to learning more riffs and songs!
My 11 year old has had weekly guitar lessons from Dave for two years now.
Her knowledge and confidence in playing the guitar, has greatly improved. Dave gets all the credit for that.
He works well with her, is communicative, and is as flexible as he can be, even last minute.
I have, and will continue to recommend Dave to anyone interested in taking guitar lessons
Dave is an amazing guitar instructor! He teaches me theory and scales, but connects that to learning fun songs. He has always had great recommendations for which songs to learn next and also takes my suggestions to make sure that I am playing songs I enjoy. I always look forward to my lessons and have progressed a lot since he started teaching me.Show More
Dave's lessons are solid and fun. He has the ability to turn something overwhelming into manageable steps. I also appreciate that he pays attention to my playing and emphasizes good forms. Great teacher.
Dave is an awesome instructor! He is very knowledgable and gives me everything I need to have productive practice sessions. He also explains the material really well. The lessons are super chill which makes them fun and I have been improving quickly.
Dave has been a great instructor and has helped me improve quite a lot, from basic technique to improvisation skills and music theory. Super friendly, patient, and funny. Thanks Dave!
Dave is awesome! I've been playing with the notion of wanting to learn guitar for something like ten years. I started taking lessons in high school and have found several instructors since then who have been wishy-washy at best. I expected to learn a few tunes and maybe some chords to be able to jam with friends. My first lesson I remember being overwhelmed thinking "holy shit I'm actually going to learn music." Dave is incredibly knowledgeable and holds you accountable (which I need) while still being personable and fun. Absolutely would recommend.Show More
Dave is great! My daughter loved taking lessons and really expanded her knowledge and interest in the ukelele. Highly recomnended!
I have been taking lessons from Dave for almost three years and I have found it enjoyable and challenging at the same time. Dave really knows his stuff! Theory, technique, repertoire, transcription, teaching...all elements of the music lesson! Even his teaching materials are good!
With me he has had to be very patient as well!
Nice guy too!
Dave is an awesome instructor who truly understands how to reach an adult learner like me. I have about 9 years experience playing acoustic guitar and was worried about making the jump to electric. Dave is teaching me many of the steps I missed or thought I could work around. His knowledge of music theory, and more importantly, his ability to relay it to me in a practical/attainable manner has been invaluable. I've had several teachers before but Dave is really making it click. Also, I appreciate his approach to web-based materials so that I know exactly where to find answers outside of our sessions. I'll be a client as long as he'll have me and intend to have him teach my son guitar when the time is right!Show More
