About Daniel H.

(4)
Originally from Miami, Florida, born to Cuban parents, I first attended the University if Pennsylvania, where I received a degree in marketing and communications from The Wharton School, with a minor in theater arts. Upon graduation, I moved to Los Angeles and trained at the Tony-award winning South Coast Repertory. I was subsequently fortunate enough to attend the Juilliard School Drama Division, where I trained for 4 years in the following subjects: scene study, improv, physical comedy/clown, movement, singing, voice and speech. Some of my favorite productions while at Juilliard have been: Measure for Measure, Henry V, The Cripple of Inishmaan, Williams in Transit, Trust, and Balm in Gilead. In addition, I have also taught drama in several cities in the country and abroad, including New Orleans, Salt Lake City, Orlando, and even Antigua, Guatemala.
*** Lesson Details ***
My lessons are designed for each particular student's need/desires. I tend to push students as I want them to not only grow as artists but as people. In fact, over the course of time, it is more important to use your art to grow into a sensitive human being, than it is to "win the Oscar" and be the "best actor out there." Much of what I do is meant for the student to bring a personal connection to the work.
*** Studio Equipment ***
Living room with seating for parents.
*** Travel Equipment ***
I expect students to provide the prop(s) necessary for scenes or monolgoues.
*** Specialties ***
I am familiar with the Stanislavski method, clown techniques, Shakespearean text, Chekhov. In terms of the speaking voice, I specialize in the Edith Skinner method of speaking with distinction, and am familiar with the work of Arthur Lessac and Catherine Fitzmaurice.

My son has been working with him for over a year and we couldn’t be happier. He is very professional and dedicated. Not only he has an extraordinary talent as an actor but his teaching approach and communication skills are marvelous. Mr. Capote has greatly improved my son acting growth and skill refinement. He helped him to prepare for the acting college audition process with great response of my son being accepted to over 10 of the top acting programs in US including Carnegie Mellon University.
