Let’s make music! Over 10 years teaching experience in many genres. From the first lesson, my focus is musicality and expression. I teach using technique and repertoire in a way to help my students gain the skills to fully express themselves in music. I have the ability to teach both the traditional path of classical training as well as a customizable program to meet the needs and requests of a diverse musical society. Whether your goals are performance, theory knowledge, or composition, I look forward to helping you achieve them!

About Clark E.

I am a current graduate student at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, where I am pursuing two independent degrees in Cello Performance and in Music Composition.

My Bachelor’s Degree is in Cello Performance, and I have travelled the world with my cello. I have studied and performed across the United States as well as in Austria, Italy, and Slovenia. In competition, I have performed all over the US as well as in Japan. Music has given me incomparable memories and connections to diverse locations and cultures in a way that nothing else could provide.

As a composer, I have had my works premiered by groups and individuals around the world. I’ve received several distinctions and awards, as well as received grants to collaborate with other performers and composers to curate current and engaging repertoire.

Music begins with sound quality. Whether that is on cello, piano, or in writing music, sound quality is the fundamental building block for musical success. Good technique, music reading, and theory knowledge add to a performer’s intention and ability to connect to an audience. These form the core of my musical philosophy.

Clark is the best teacher I have ever had! He’s so patient with me and has made the transition from in person to online lessons so easy. I would highly recommend him for any of your music needs. He is very knowledgeable about all of the subjects he teaches and he is able to explain everything in many ways so that I can understand. You can’t find a better teacher.

Wow! I have never enjoyed playing the piano more than I have taking lessons from Clark. He has helped me a lot with the technical aspects of playing but has always helped me to understand how an emotional connection to the music is important as well. I’ve improved by 3 books within a short time period because of his patience. He also takes notes during our lessons and sends me a copy of them so that I can review while I practice. I have recommended his teaching to several of my friends and he is going to start teaching my nephew soon. Great teacher! And makes learning an instrument a great experience!

My kids have been taking from C. Evans for almost three years. Not only has their musicianship improved, so has their confidence! He has been able to directly improve my kid’s musical experiences and helped them with auditions for school amongst other things. He encourages them while providing high class teaching. My kid’s never leave their lessons discouraged or bored but always ready to learn more music and excited for the next lesson. He is very communicative and will always work with your schedule and inevitable conflicts. I HIGHLY recommend him for piano/cello/music theory lessons.

Clark is an outstanding person, artist, and teacher. I owe much of my growth as a musician to his mentoring. His understanding of music is profound and well rounded and his teaching reflects that. He teaches difficult concepts with clarity and stays attentive of my learning pace. I’ve always felt like I could be honest with him when I have questions. In addition, I’ve had the privilege to attend some of Clark’s performances. Whether it’s in a group or solo, Clark performs with his whole heart and strives for excellence. I cannot give a higher recommendation! Thank you, Clark!
