When I came home from my second piano lesson, at age 7, my mother tells me that I said, "Mama, when I grow up I want to be a music teacher." And it's true that, in spite of liking a lot of subjects in school, music and playing the piano were always at the forefront of my thoughts. I began playing for church at age 12, having added playing from hymnals to my first love -- classical music. In college I accompanied constantly -- singers and instrumentalists -- and then was tapped to accompany one of the university's choral groups. In the years since graduation, teaching piano has been my prime source of income, but I have accompanied the local high school choral program since the 2000 -- 2001 school year. Along the way I've also tutored high school and college students in Music Theory, as well as an occasional church musician who just wanted to add some theory knowledge to enhance playing skills. I love the challenge of coming up with ways to explain new concepts to students of all ages.
