Great that you or your son/daughter have an interest in the Saxophone! I have been playing for over 30yrs, began teaching younger students while in school, and have continued throughout my life to introduce people to the horn. Traditionally, study is based on Jazz and/or Classical music. While this is a great way to learn the rudiments of playing, I like to incorporate different styles, particularly the type of music the student likes! This is a great way to prepare to play in the world at large, and keeps study interesting. I settled down with my wife and son in Covington, LA a few years back, and have been playing the Northshore and NOLA at various venues, including the Maple Leaf and the Abita Opry.
