About Cat L.

My burlesque persona is Vixen DeVille - a multi-talented, international Variety Burlesque performer, and live event Host, specializing in fire-eating, glass-walking, aerial hoop, and magic. In addition to multiple appearances on TV's, 'Masters Of Illusion’, my solo stage show "Vixen DeVille Revealed" was awarded Winner of the Best International Show, Winner of the Soaring Solo Artist, Winner of the Encore Producers Award, and Nominated Best of Cabaret & Variety.

I started out in London, England with appearances at Cafe De Paris, The Ritz Hotel and three West End runs at The Charing Cross Theatre, but have since relocated to Los Angeles, performing regularly around town at The Viper Room, LA Convention Center, The Roosevelt Hotel, as well as venturing out to The Orleans Casino and Hotel in Las Vegas. I've had the honor of performing private events for, 'The Simpsons' and Neil Patrick Harris and this year have been invited to perform as an International Guest Artist at the Australian Burlesque Festival performing in both Canberra and Sydney.

In addition to performing for audiences, I also teach my craft both privately 1-on-1 and in supportive group workshop environments. I think of myself as a one-stop-shop for anyone interested in the world of Burlesque, with classes ranging from “Introduction to Burlesque & Body Confidence” to full “Solo Act Development” as well supplementary classes covering “Costume Crafting” and a range of specialty performance skills including Fire Performance, Aerial and more.

If you've ever thought of 'trying' burlesque and then instantly told yourself that was a dumb idea, then you're 100% in the right place - I'm here to remind you how amazing you are!!

Cat LaCohie, aka Vixen De Ville is an amazing instructor. I went from terrified, broken-hearted mess of a mid-life crisis to Scandal Navia, burlesque performer in a few months! Cat's snarky sense of humor adds to the fun you are certain to have in her class. Her warm encouragement, and total body positivity will have you feeling like a Queen from the first class. I still go to her every time I need to hone a new act. She's amazing not only at instruction, encouragement and choreography, she excels at solving problems, working out costume issues, knowing where to get or make literally anything and fine-tuning all your bits - both sensual and comedic. Whether you've never set foot onstage, or are a seasoned pro, you can benefit immensely from working with Cat. She is fantastic!

I took Cat's intensive class, and it was amazing! She is a very comfortable teacher, who imbues in her students the confidence and wonder of our own bodies! So much fun to participate, and even more fun to watch people come to life in an accepting, loving atmosphere! Class sizes are small and intimate. Very encouraging if you've just started or have experience!

I’ve taken several of Cat’s classes and she is amazing. She really helps you with you confidence being on stage, as well as helping you create an act from start to finish. Not only do her classes help you as a performer, but she helps you explore yourself as well through character development. I also like that she provides a variety of classes, so there’s always more to explore.

I took Vixen’s class while I was visiting the US for a few weeks. I had already done a Burlesque class in my home country but I wanted to explore the subject with another teacher from another country which means another approach to the discipline.
I’m so glad I chose this particular one. Vixen was so kind and benevolent. Her lessons are fun. She’s teaches me to be more sexy, to gain confidence on stage, to interact with the audience. A few things that I haven’t picked up in my previous class.
I really recommend it!

Taking this class was one of the best decisions I have ever made. I can't say enough good things about Vixen and this wonderful class. I was a burlesque singer for a troupe when I was diagnosed with vocal cord damage. I was instructed by my doctor stop singing immediately and make all kinds of lifestyle changes. So while on vocal rest it was suggested that I take a class and start working on other burlesque skills that didn't require me to sing.

I had taken Vixen's intro class the year before, just before a show that required me to dance, and I needed some confidence to be get through that show. I'm not a dancer. That one hour did the trick. I had an amazing time, met new people, and walked out of there feeling awesome. The night of the show I was confident and calm and pretty good.

I talked to Vixen about my situation and she was super encouraging. I wasn't really sure if this was a good idea for me try dancing. She said there are all kinds of different acts in burlesque that I could do. And because she had seen me sing, she said I was a natural at performing and that I could definitely embrace something new. I walked into that class with a bunch jumbled ideas as to what I wanted to do. And with each class the number I was developing was coming into shape with the help of Vixen. When I had freakouts about wardrobe malfunctions she gave helpful suggestions as to how to get around them. When I freaked out in general, she was always so encouraging explaining that what I was doing wasn't easy and I was doing amazingly well for someone who hasn't been doing this for years. The encouragement was contagious, because the students in her class were encouraging each other as each of our acts started to take form. It was a great environment to learn and grow.

She isn't traditional about teaching steps, it's more about telling a story with each number. And not where your foot will be when you get to count 8. Because she taught that way it was easy to remember what I was doing from one moment to the next in my number. She encouraged students to embellish their costumes and really make them their own. Again super helpful suggestions as to how to make improvements to something as simple as a glove. With me being a bigger girl, I was super self conscious about my body, and the fact that I wasn't as flexible as most students. I was hopeless at stocking removal. Vixen made me feel like that was OK. I didn't have to remove stockings, there are other things I can do to enhance the number. It was all about what I was comfortable with, and nothing was a real requirement other than feeling good and presenting your true self.

At the end of my class I had a fully developed act, a fairly comprehensive costume, and a new found confidence that really helped me step into my new role as dancer. The transformation was very noticeable among the people who knew me best. I debuted my act a month after I finished the class and it was a big hit. Everyone who saw love it and was extremely proud of me. As a result I have performed this number multiple times in the last 3 years. In fact I'm performing next weekend and it's really been a crowd pleaser. I felt good about performing as a dancer. I do more solo dance numbers. I have since competed in a burlesque competition with a dance act. I have since returned to singing, but the skills I've gained from this class have enhanced even my singing performances.

I would recommend this class to anyone who wants to step out into something new. Especially if you're not the traditional body type. If you're anything like me you'll gain a love for your own body and embrace it as it is. I gained so much as result of taking this class. And I can never truly thank Vixen enough for everything she did to help me do this. I'm so happy I did this.

Cat is a fantastic teacher. Burlesque with her is all about body confidence. You don't have to be an amazing dancer. She will teach you how to show up and love yourself and how to share that love with an audience. She is also a great collaborator for putting together a number. So much creativity and support! I can't recommend her more.

Taking burlesque and body confidence classes with Cat absolutely changed my life! I was uncomfortable in my skin, and was convinced my entire life I could not dance, but she changed all that. She taught me to soar out of my comfort zone, “tell a story with my body,“ and own my feminine power – it was awesome! The best part is that this newfound confidence and daring translate to every area of my life.

Cat is truly a genius teacher who took me from no experience to doing a performance in a real show in LA in 8 weeks with such warmth, grace and fun . She has broken down the art of burlesque into principles that anyone can apply, yet she guides you to express your unique fabulousness so that every performer and act stands out. She is truly channeling the burlesque muses! One of the best things I've ever done for myself.

I can’t always go to Hollywood to take her classes, but with her online classes I’ve learned so much about self confidence and body positivity. I’m always so excited for my next gigs now all thanks to Cat/Vixen! She brings such positive energy and allows her students to embrace their individuality. Her dance classes are so fun and she never lets you feel bad about yourself if you can’t get some moves down the first time. I can’t wait till I’m done with being a full time student so that I can actually have time to go to her classes. And she is also amazing to work with if anyone gets a chance! Thank you so much Vixen!

What an amazing experience burlesque with Cat is! Walking into her intro class you are treated with smiles and warmth. At the beginning you may feel self-conscious. As the class continues Cat helps you to peel away any negativity allowing you to free your inner vixen. I know I am not alone when I say that by the end of class, I didn't change, I simply became more the me that I am meant to be. Bravo to Cat. I HIGHLY recommend any and all of her classes.
