I've been teaching and performing professionally for over 15 years. I have my BA in music and business. I have had some amazing experiences along the way. I've worked with world renowned vocal coaches, sang at Carnegie Hall, and played on various cds to raise money/awareness for charity projects. I'm grateful for all of this, but I love working with students on their music most of all. It delights me to see a student have an "aha" moment where they realize that they have what it takes to be great. I'd love to work with you, but if I don't I hope you reach your goals and have fun doing it ! ~ Carrie Jo ~
*** Lesson Details ***
I'm a laid back teacher but you will definitely learn a lot. I just believe if it starts to not be fun, what's the point? Music isn't just about perfect theory and note placement it's about enjoyment. That's why I tailor make every lesson specifically based on my student's goals. I have students that like a more traditional approach so I use standard method books with them. I also have students that want to learn how to play by ear so we use a less traditional method and I teach them chord structures and how to move around easily on their instrument. My favorite thing to teach is vocal lessons but I love teaching piano and guitar also.
*** Studio Equipment ***
The In-Studio lessons are taught on an upright piano or acoustic/electric guitar. Student should bring own guitar. No pets. Waiting room out front for parents.
*** Travel Equipment ***
They need their own instrument.
*** Specialties ***
I've performed at Carnegie Hall and I've had the opportunity to work with world renowned vocal coaches. I offer that as well as techniques that I've developed to help you reach your goals quickly and with great skill !
Had a great time and look forward to more lessons.
It was awesome! Great experience with Carrie and she got me playing within our first lesson! Couldn't be happier!
Carrie was a great teacher for my son! It takes a special kind of person to teach my son and she did a great job at it. Unfortunately Carrie had to move and we are not able to take more lessons with her but we really enjoyed the time we had together.
Carrie is a very warm person, very clear in her instructions, and I learned a lot from her.
Carrie is awesome! What I am looking to get out of the lessons she is totally going to give me. My first lesson was super positive and I can't wait to go back next week!
Carrie has done an amazing job with my 5 year old. I recommend her talent, knowledge, and patients.
Carrie is a wonderful instructor with my teenage daughter. She has the right teaching skills to push her when needed and has her always reaching for more. Her variety of instructing skills is what makes her great. She makes the lessons fun, beneficial and full of challenges. I would recommend her to everyone. My daughter has been going to her for almost 1 full year now and the difference is amazing. Besides her singing her confidence with stage and performing has exceeded my expectations. Thank you Carrie!!!+ Read More
My daughter absolutely loves Carri Jo. She has always worked with us when we have had to miss a lesson due to illness, etc.
Carrie is excellent!
Carrie is an excellent instructor. She really cares about her students and is very understanding. She will not make you do anything you are not willing to do or try. When I started lessons, I was very nervous, but she made me feel very comfortable. Working with her has been a pleasure, and I would recommend her to anyone looking for an instructor.
We LOVE Carrie!!! She has been just what I wished for my kids. I actually decided to start taking lessons as well because I was so impressed and excited about Carrie's teaching style.
Carrie is a musician. First and foremost you can feel Carrie's love for music and exceptional knowledge and talent in the art.
Carrie is a great teacher. She is an excellent listener and thus is able to really understand the needs of each student and how to help each one individually. It is easy to see her enthusiasm for music and teaching with her happy and kind demeanor.
I would ABSOLUTELY recommend Carrie to anyone and everyone I know who is even thinking about developing their musical talents. She will get you there and you will make a friend in the process. :)
