About April S.
I'm a 'classically trained' voice teacher who specializes in the biology of singing: JAZZ, R&B, POP, and GOSPEL. I have performance arts training and experience and have
a liberal arts degree from Columbia University/Master of Fine Arts Education from City College of NY.
I perform as a Jazz Vocalist at various night spots, concert halls, and social events. As a Voice Coach, I have the good fortune to share my vocal skills while working with this organization.
Singing is the joy I share as a performer and as a teacher. Anyone can sing, and do it on a superior level. It takes desire and the willingness to practice the skills necessary until the goal is achieved.
To produce great sounds when singing it is essential to adopt beneficial singing habits in order to produce sounds that are more relaxed and healthy.
Students will learn Basic Components of Singing:
Pitch, Rhythm, Breath Control and Diction
Students will learn vital techniques to create a connected voice blending head, chest, and diaphragm. Students will learn warm-up exercises that strengthen vocal cords and loosen the muscles needed to produce a professional sound and the importance of singing exercises to achieve this objective.
Students will learn how to avoid the most common singing mistakes that prevent singers from producing a clean and professional vocal tone.
For the purpose of voice projection, students will learn to use the diaphragm, the muscles beneath the ribcage;
how to use emotions, enunciation, and clarity.
Students will learn to sing a favorite song with the focus on elements of singing.
Each lesson to begin with a brief review of previous.

April has such precision, kindness and astute ears. Thank you so much for helping me go back to basics, slow myself down and be consistent in my practice!

I studied with April S. for a year; I see my “great” improvements; breathing, holding notes, and discovering that I wasn’t tone deaf. I loved every second of every minute I spent learning to sing with April S. I plan to take more lessons in the future. It was my joy studying with April S.; it was a life long dream of mine to learn how to sing properly. I’m not where I want to be, but I’m so confident that with more lessons I will achieve everything I want with April S. as my vocal instructor.

extremely knowledgeable constructor, and a great teacher.

My son had a great first session with April today. Thank you!

She is very good at giving me confidence and has a very positive attitude. I'm sure that I went to a right place. I'm looking forward to my progress after some lessons with her.

The first lesson was very informative , constructive and top notch teacher.

She's great, she's well prepared and makes you feel comfortable and like you can do anything! Professional and down to earth!

I just completed my 3rd lesson with April and is impressed with her dedication to ensure I achieve my goal. She takes time to breakdown the lessons and how each will help me in its own way. She loves what she does which is a consolation to anyone wanting to improve their vocal ability. I have started to become area of how I breathe and ways in which I can improve. I would recommend her highly to anyone wanting to take singing to the next level.

Learned a lot in the first thirty minute session

My first day was awesome. Looking forward to more.

It was my first time ever taking a singing lesson. I have no vocal training at all but April made me feel at ease and comfortable with my voice from lesson one. She is full of positive energy and is a great person to work with.

Great fit for a beginner singer - very hands on and provided me with literature to read to help in between my lessons. I look forward to resuming when my schedule permits.
