Getting Inspired to Learn French in Saint Louis

There’s a part of the USA that has always felt more French than American, and even today, it feels as if you’re entering a different world. As early as the end of the 17th century, the La Louisiane region was a thriving European settlement, and although it briefly passed into Spanish control towards the end of the 18th century, the area still retained its uniquely French flavor.

It’s no surprise then, that with such a rich European history, Saint Louis still retains its position as a major center of Roman Catholicism and is home to a prominent artistic community - famous not only for jazz, but also boasting America’s second-oldest orchestra.

Whether you’re a historian or a would-be traveler, there’s only one way to really immerse yourself in the culture of a place with a different language, and that’s to learn to speak it for yourself. The idea of seeking out French lessons in Saint Louis may make you feel nervous, but finding the right instructor to cater to your learning style will ensure that you get the most out of your lessons.

If you already have a moderate level of proficiency, you might benefit from some one-to-one spoken French sessions with a native speaker. To supplement these private French lessons in Saint Louis, try a group setting as a fun way of learning basic conversational vocabulary and putting it to immediate use in the right context. Institutions such as the The Alliance Française de Saint Louis (http://alliancestl.org/) ensure that you will get access to the very best tuition and facilities, including a library, cultural events, and the opportunity to take age and ability-appropriate exams for the more advanced speaker.

There are more ways to bring a language to life than just speaking it, and the rich history of Saint Louis is the perfect place to start as an accompaniment to your study of the French language. Local libraries and museums are great starting places to attend regular French-themed exhibitions and events. The pinnacle of these has to be the Mardi Gras celebration, running from mid-February until early March, with music and the famous nighttime street parade.

Whether your French lessons in Saint Louis inspire you to explore your language skills in Europe, or to apply them closer to home, learning a language is a social and fun way to bring rich layers to other interests, and make the history and culture of a region come to life.

I was born in Paris' suburbs. French is my mother's tongue but it is not enough to be a good teacher. I got a degree in French literature in 2002. I am a patient teacher for all levels, and all ages. Feel welcome to ask for help either for personal or business purposes. Le français est une langue qui a beaucoup de charme, le secret est juste de pratiquer ! C'est facile ! Commençons avec les basiques, puis étape par étape nous progresserons ensemble !

About Jonathan "JC"
Hello! Bonjour!

The way I teach is simple and fun! I am patient and dedicated to your success.

My name is Jonathan. I am a 33 year old French-American man living and working in Minneapolis Minnesota. I will be your teacher today.

I am a happy husband and step-father who moved to Minnesota in 2015 to live with the wife Sophia and 2 kids: Blake and Samara, 15 and 13 (11th, and 8th grade this year).

I have been a professional photographer for more than 14 years now. It is my full-time job. I also practice traditional Indian-Himalayan SunYoga, meditation, acupressure. I have participated in healing cancer patients and all kinds of diseases in 4 different countries (USA, France, Serbia, India).

In 2015, before I moved to the USA, I was the President of a Non Profit Organization called SUNYOGA France, French branch of the main
NPO from India called UNIVERSAL PEACE CENTER, for yoga, research, education, and humanitarian programs. I am now working on creating the American branch of the association. It will be called SUNYOGA AMERICA.

WHAT ABOUT TEACHING? Everybody wants the best. I believe QUALITY is the most important. I also believe each person is UNIQUE and should be treated in a unique way with unique lessons.

What comes first? Question or answer? When we arrive on our first day at school do we have final exams? First the teacher shares knowledge during class. Depending on the teacher's talent, passion, and love for his work, the students will learn something. Then only we have exams.

Hopefully wisdom will come out of this process. All we need is a little support to all grow together.

Teaching is a big responsibility. Parents and teachers, it is our duty to teach the best. Let's do our best together. Thank you.

French is among the most important languages in the world; over 7% of the world's population speak it and it is the third most important language in the business world. Unfortunately, French is notorious for being gratuitously difficult. On the bright side, I have over 7 years of experience with French, I speak it fluently and I teach it up until the intermediate level. I tutor French in a fun and engaging way that captivates my students and has them speaking it in a provisional amount of time. Along with the basics, I also delve into the technicalities of French grammar, spelling and reading. You've come to the right person, as you'll never have to be craven taking your next French test, impressing your French-speaking friend or visiting a francophone country after I 'fragment French'.

About Amadou
I am a distinguished graduate with Summa Cum Laude honors from Ivy Tech College. I make it my duty to break down many of the complexities in math and science that have been plaguing students since the beginning of time. I have over 7 years of teaching experience, and I have taught several middle-school and high-school students math, science and ACT/SAT prep who have went on to make 180 degree turns in their grades under my instruction. And because I have worked with such a vast diversity of people over the span of 16 countries throughout the world, I have developed the patience and understanding that is crucial in producing stellar students. Age has never been a problem with me, as I've helped several post-graduate students straighten out their grievances in math and science.

As an engineering major at IIT, I naturally maintain an ex
emplary study ethic that inspires my students to achieve more. I bring results. I relate to my students by incorporating elements of the things that they like (sports, hobbies, music, etc...) into their most challenging courses allowing them to develop a passion for the courses I tutor. Additionally, I always make a conscious effort to work at each student's own pace and I make it my priority to decompose enigmatic topics into components that can be more easily internalized by my students, effectively increasing their grades and giving them the self-confidence and enthusiasm they need to fuel their future academic endeavors. I guarantee quality, commitment, and a passion for training my students to be the best.

I have lived in over 20 countries, which allowed me to speak several languages, and which permitted me to maintain my patience, élan and spirit of enthusiasm when dealing with even the most extreme personalities. I have solid background in both math and the natural sciences, as I have consistently maintained a 4.0 G.P.A since high school. I am now studying mechanical engineering at IIT, and I have gotten 5s in all of my AP Chemistry, AP Physics and AP Biology exams. I have also been the winner of many STEM-related competitions, through my demonstrating of exemplary leadership qualities and through my brainstorming of blue-sky ideas. I am also a "Mental-Math" practitioner, reflexologist and guitarist. I believe that everyone has potential; however potential is worthless unless put in motion. And experts like me value ourselves in our abilities to give students that push, that jolt of energy that galvanizes them into pulling themselves up by their own bootstraps, allowing them to achieve academic excellence.

About Jodie
My name is Jodie. I have been teaching since 1999 and my experience includes school classrooms, university, and private lessons. I have been teaching private lessons since 2003 and am currently available to teach lessons in person and online. I teach French and ESL. I am also qualified to teach English, writing, and comprehension as well as a few crafts. I received my training at the University of Northern Iowa in1998 where I received a BA and an MA in French. I later studied at the University of Angers, France, where I earned an MA in Teaching French as a Foreign Language. I lived in France for six years. I also taught English to French students. Isabel is teaching my daughter for the last month and half and words fail to express my gratitude and happiness to find her as my daughter's teacher. She is very friendly, knowledgeable and designs the class based on my daughter's ability. I already seen lot of improvement in my daughter's Spanish speaking ability and also she is feeling confident. I am recommending her to my friend's and family who are planning Spanish lessons for their kids. Apart from Spanish she is fluent in Italian, German, French and Portuguese. A person who is affluent in so many languages really has the ability to understand the tricks of the trade in learning new languages and teaching new languages as well. We are going to continue with her for few more months and I am planning to take lessons as well. Overall, we are very very pleased with her teaching skills. Big Thums Up.

I recommend her to everyone who wants to learn Spanish.

Isabel is a lovely person and I enjoyed learning a bit of Italian from her. Her teaching materials, though, were pretty amateurish. Seemed like this was the first time she'd taught Italian to a beginner. The various documents did not have titles like "Lesson 1", "Lesson 2" etc, and the pages didn't have page numbers so we spent too much time getting to the same page. Materials did not match the sequence she taught in so we jumped around a bit. These things can be remedied easily as she teaches more. The topics she chose to teach a beginner were what you'd expect so no complaints there. One good thing was that she was very available for the time slots that were most convenient for me. All in all I'm satisfied with what I learned in the time we spent together.

Bonjour, tout le monde! Je m'appelle Gabrielle!

The way that foreign languages are taught in the United States is unnatural and boring. This leads many to believe that learning another language is a waste of time or too difficult. My lessons will challenge the status quo from "sitting and getting" to "learning and living" (your best life, of course). I will do this by incorporating culture into the lessons. Each language is heavily influenced by culture (or way of living) therefore leaving it out does everyone in the situation an injustice. We will be reading books/articles in French, listening to French music, trying out French cuisine in the area, and learning French history. I will also address perks to learning French in particular. In addition, I will show how complex grammatical concepts can be reduced to simple equations such as 1+1=2. I will also make lessons interactive. For example, using games or having impromptu converations to develop oral skills. This experience ...

About Gabrielle
Bonjour tout le monde! Je m'appelle Gabrielle

If you want to learn French, you're reading the right bio! My name is Gabrielle and I've been studying French since I was 12 years old. I am now 22 years old. I also have a bachelors degree in French from the University of Missouri-Kansas City. I studied abroad in France for three months at the Université de Lyon 2 and I will be teaching in France this September.

Enough about me, let me ask you a question? Do you disagree with the approach of "sit and get" when it comes to learning? Do you want to learn and live (your best life)? Well, look no further! My lessons aim to make the process enjoyable by learning more than just the grammatical structure of the language. We will take a look at French culture, music, cuisine, history etc. This experience will be interactive. For example, playing g
ames to strengthen vocabulary or watching a video and then discussing in an impromptu manner about the topic. The goal is for you to learn French, but who says it can't be fun along the way.
