For over more than 20 years I have had many successful students, who have enjoyed playing and studying with me. Teaching is a life-giver for me--I enjoy introducing students to the joys of different musical ideas, concepts, and ways that they can advance on their instrument. Things that I have enjoyed learning and playing over the years, that I can pass on to them to explore and enjoy. I hold both a Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree in Music, and have taught as an adjunct on the college level, high school, and privately. On the college level, I have taught clarinet, saxophone, and flute at three colleges, a Woodwind Methods class for five years, developed jazz ensembles, and developed and procured music for woodwind trios and saxophone quartets.

I have played professionally in these settings; jazz, symphonic, pit orchestra, and general business entertainment freelance as a woodwinds specialist.

I am an experienced orchestral clarinetist and bass clarinetist. I can help you or your student achieve their goals through individual planning. I enjoy working on fundamentals and utilizing performance psychology practices to improve the learning outcomes for the students. "I hired Stephanie to work with me at Lynn Middle School as a woodwind technician for one semester, Spring 2012. Stephanie was always punctual, organized, and outstanding with the kids. She immediately set up a fun and safe environment for them to learn. Her work was excellent. We were preparing for our district Music Performance Assessment Festival and received Superior ratings. I have no doubt we owe part of that rating to her hard work. She really goes above and beyond, on one occasion I had to miss my afternoon classes for jury duty and she ran rehearsal without any problems. I wish we still had Stephanie in our district. I highly recommend her."

"Perhaps the best teacher I’ve ever had—in any discipline, at any age. When I first began two years ago, I couldn’t read a note of music and had never played any instrument. Since then, thanks to Moran’s patience and guidance, I can play with confidence at a level I never imagined. Wonderful, kind, yet demanding teacher who enjoys teaching and takes great pride in the progress of her students"

"Clarinet Lessons

I went to Mr. Masiello for clarinet lessons for years in high school and he has always helped me achieve making regionals every year, making state my last year in high school and consistently holding my first chair in the school band. Although, I did not pursue a career in music, he still had influence on where I am today [DVM in June 2014]. And for that I will always be appreciative. Mr. Masiello is an exceptional teacher and a very amiable individual."

"As a language teacher, I was looking for a clarinet/saxophone instructor with excellent communication skills and the ability to teach musical technique in an empathetic way. I was lucky to find Masaru Koga in Cupertino, California.

I enjoyed weekly lessons for about three years and really reached the point where I was constantly improving my clarinet mastery and getting closer to my performance goals. At one point, I became so enthusiastic, I also began saxophone lessons with Masaru!

I looked froward to meeting him for my weekly lessons and felt he gave more than 100% in patience, encouragement, and musical technique. He has a very warm, giving personality and when we were together, I made great progress and was very motivated to study and practice on my own.

I enthusiastically recommend Masaru Koga to other music students and wish I could be his student again!"
