Johnathan is a teacher in the spirit of a Jedi master. I was looking for someone who could go deep into how to play an instrument properly without making it drudgery and that is exactly what I found. At the start, he asked what I wanted to get out of lessons and where I wanted to take playing the violin. Each lesson has been tailored to add another piece to that foundation.

He really keeps my 6 yr old daughter interested in playing and that is the master skill.

Jonathan is doing a great job training me to elevate my playing from intermediate to advanced. He pays very close attention to detail and has a lot of knowledge in music theory. I look forward to taking more lessons with Jonathan.

The violin has been a constant and enriching presence throughout my life, and I enjoy helping people engage with this instrument that is demanding and rewarding in equal measure. No matter your age or level of expertise, I would be happy to help you along as you discover new musical territory. I’m most fluent in the classical style, but am happy to explore other areas with you as well, from bluegrass to Broadway.

About Kris

I have been teaching the violin to students of all ages and abilities for close to twenty years, and have had great satisfaction in seeing them all grow and develop over time. Some of my younger students have gone on to the Interlochen Arts Camp, and one of my former adult students still makes an a

I've been teaching String Instruments like Guitar and Violin for Beginners and Intermediate level for many years.
In Teaching Violin for my beginner students, we usually review the basics of how to play the violin including how to hold the violin, violin tuning, violin fingering , violin bowing and violin care. My students also do warm-up to strengthen and improve their violin playing with violin scales, violin etudes, and violin exercises.
For my Intermediate violin students, we refresh our memory of the fundamentals of music theory such as how to read violin music, rhythm and key signatures.

This has been an amazing process with my God son. He has ADHD and while initially he had some difficulty being focused he is beginning to slow down and is grasping the ability to learn. Wilma is very patient and an excellent instructor. We really approach her.

My son has had many teachers, but none as attentive and detailed as Mrs. Rhea. For the first time, he is focused in his lessons, and he knows exactly how to practice. He even said, "I can't wait to be a violin teacher like Mrs. Rhea!" What a special thing to hear from my 8-year-old son. We're so grateful we found Mrs. Rhea.

Pedagogy is one of the few and rare professions that requires true vocation and conviction. I believe that teaching comes from sharing and I love to help each and every one of my students develop their own gift and understanding of music. This year marks the beginning of my 11th year of teaching and I am fascinated and humbled by everything that I have learned from all of my students!
Learning to play an instrument is a formative, fun and inclusive process for both teacher and student. I enjoy seeing my pupils progress and ultimately, finding their voice and telling their own story through music. My objective as a docent is to inspire students to develop high intrapersonal intelligence so that they may become their own best teacher.
It is my hope that my students will acquire tools that will not only help them become better musicians but that will also assist them in other areas of their lives.
The student will learn healthy ways of approaching the instrument. I guarantee the

Aleksandre is an amazing teacher! I've only been taking lessons with him for a month now and already feel more confident in my technique and happier with my sound! Aleksandre has incredible skill with the instrument and, importantly, is gifted in teaching as well! I highly recommend Aleksandre if you are looking to begin playing the viola or starting up again after decades like me!

My daughter has thoroughly enjoyed her lessons with Aleksandre and she has made tremendous strides in just 1 year with his instruction. He is nurturing and encouraging, giving praise when it is due, but also is meticulous and has high standards. In this sense he really strikes a perfectly balanced approach to teaching and shows a genuine investment in her progress. He demonstrates an obvious passion for the instrument and it is thrilling and inspiring to hear him play. He is a real role model and a cheer leader for his students. She and I both highly recommend Aleksandre!

"Tania has been a great teacher for my son. He started learning violin with the Suzuki method and studied with a Suzuki teacher for about four years before stopping lessons. He became interested in violin again in middle school and decided he wanted to take private lessons while in 7th grade. Tania had no trouble getting him back on track, picking up with some Book 2 pieces and moving on to Book 3. She has helped him with his bowing, vibrato and shifting, and his sound has really improved. She also has helped him learn to read better and has introduced some basic music theory into lessons. My son really likes his lessons, and feels that he is learning what he needs. Overall, I like her approach, which I think works very well for this level. She is an excellent musician, and this comes through in her teaching."

Also, Kelvin immediately pointed out that the violin we have picked is too small for Rich, where other teacher didn't say anything about it. We changed the size and it helped a lot with holding violin and feeling more comfortable. Thank you !"
