Are you a beginner piano player interested in learning how to play your favorite songs? Do you like how the piano sounds and want to learn what each note is or how to take control of the instrument? Are you a singer looking to grow with your vocal exercises and learn how to play scales?
I learned how to play piano 4 years ago when I started teaching music lesson. When I first started I was teaching voice, so I had to learn scales and chords to be able to warm up and accompany the students I was working with. Pretty soon I was playing piano with my students for their recitals, and quickly I learned how to utilize the piano either for performance or practice!
Whether you are planning on leading with it, using it as accompaniment to someone else/yourself, or just want to learn for fun as a hobby, I can teach you all you need to know for your beginner piano studies! If you have any questions, please message me!

I have been teaching piano almost as long as I have been performing, coming up on 10 years. I started teaching beginners when I was just a teenager, and as I learned more about pedagogy and about piano myself, I branched into teaching more advanced students. To date, I have taught lessons to over 100 different students ranging in age from 5 to 70, and ranging in skill from complete beginner to college piano performance major.
Not every student is going to think I’m the best fit for them. I expect consistent practice, completion of assignments, and attention to detail in music. I have had many trial lessons that don’t pan out because the student or parent thinks my expectations are too high for them. Make no mistake; I expect a lot, but I also care deeply about music and have great understanding and sympathy for those who genuinely try. Whether your goal is to learn to read music, improve rhythm, learn to play the great classical repertoire, or simply have a good time learning the ...

This teacher has great patience with me and I particularly like that she has many ways to get me to understand the concepts. I have enjoyed the lessons and while I struggle physically to play the piano, she does not give up on me and does not allow me to give up either. After a year with her, I am proud of the progress I have made and highly recommend her to any student of any level."

The teacher is nice and patient, My daughter just turned 4 when she first started the lesson. I was afraid she was going to find this difficult and boring. But instead she has enjoyed each lesson and has made surprising progress. The lesson is talored to her short attention span, mixed with games and fun motivation. We have enjoyed the lessons."

Glynis is very adept at tailoring her teaching methods to what I need on that particular day. Sometimes I haven't had a chance to practice as much as I'd like, and she is very patient, helping me based on where I am in that moment. When I do have the time to work more diligently on a piece, she listens thoughtfully, praising the good parts and offering gentle suggestions on how I could improve. She sometimes will paint visual pictures for me of how the music should sound ("make it sound like children running through a meadow"), which is silly but also useful! Glynis knows how to bring out the best in my playing, and shows genuine enthusiasm when I master something hard. My playing has dramatically improved over the past few months, and I've really enjoyed spending time with Glynis at the piano.
I'd recommend Glynis to any adult looking to improve their piano skills. She is absolutely fantastic."

As a father of student I am very impressed with Robert's sensitivity to how each student learns best. He has the valuable skill of knowing when to push and when not to and always seems to find the right way of communicating whatever it is he is trying to teach. Kids require a lot patience and a willingness to respond to them at their level. Frankly, I would find it very difficult to do myself, but his patience seems endless and more than that you can tell he gets great satisfaction from what he does . As a result, my daughter has blossomed into quite a performer with a deep love of music and ongoing interest in learning more."

We’ve all heard a tune on the radio and thought, “Wow, I would love to be able to play that.” And we’ve all been envious of friends and family members who have performed in bands, constantly fantasizing about rocking out on stage with them. But how do you make those musical dreams become a reality? Whether you want to casually play the piano at a party or tickle the ivory like a professional in a dimly-lit cocktail lounge, reading sheet music is the first step. Knowing how to …
