Ron has been my piano instructor for the past three years. I find him to be very knowledgeable in jazz as well as classical music. He goes above the allotted time to ensure your understanding of instructions, and maintains a professional demeanor at all times, even with wit in his oral approach. I would not hesitate to recommend him for piano instruction at all levels!

I teach piano using a variety of methods, especially depending on the person's previous ability and experience level. If you have a child who is looking to learn the instrument or if you personally are looking to learn, I have some excellent beginning methods to teach people how to understand the instrument, read music, and build their overall skills all at once. I work to take a challenging instrument and make it an enjoyable experience to learn through music that you or your child enjoy. I engage my students with simple methodology that if applied can help advance not just a general understanding of how to play the instrument, but how to think, read, and understand the piano from an overall musical perspective.

I have found the best approach to doing this is by selecting music that you like to listen to and play, as it is much more fun to practice something that you enjoy rather than doing busywork to build skill.

About Tyler

Hi, I'm Tyler! Born and raised in Roswell, New Mexico, I am the son of a band director. That being said, I have literally been involved in music since I was an infant! I played trombone, bass trombone, and bass guitar all the way through high school, and went to New Mexico State University where I

Tyler arrived early, spent lots of time with my unruly daughter, and kept her on track! He's a good combination of fun/playful but also has a natural authority so that my daughter actually listens to his instruction. Well done and thank you Tyler!

Great first lesson - looking forward to the next one.
Nicolas O.
I feel like I learned a lot in an hour and he really helped me find an anchor point that I can go back to if I am stuck on a note. I realized that he went over every proven method that I learned throughout my experiences from elementary school to highschool and then added on to them by explaining how these methods help. He even showed me methods usually taught to college musicians.

The reason I always believed in private lessons is because no matter how few or how many you take, the learning process gets expedited immensely.

I definitely would recommend this teacher for learning a brass instrument.

"Both my husband & I are musicians & teachers yet we send both of our children to Jennifer Herring for piano lessons. Jennifer has been teaching my daughter for 5 years now & my son for 2. Jennifer is an outstanding teacher! She is patient with all levels, yet encouraging when her students need encouragement. My children always want to return & learn something new & exciting. My son wanted nothing to do with playing the piano in the beginning, however after the first lesson, he hugged & thanked Jennifer for teaching him to play the piano. He automatically sits down at the piano to practice & compose on his own. Jennifer has both my husband's & my highest recommendation!!!"
