About David
I am a 30 year old Massachusetts native and have been playing music since I was 8 years old, starting on the piano with a wonderful teacher in Beverly who also went to Berklee. I picked up the guitar and the bass in high school and got into rock, jazz and blues and haven't looked back. I received a bachelors degree from Berklee in 2012 with a major in Professional Music and minor in Music Education.

I currently perform in and around Boston with several bands and also build electric guitars and perform all types of repairs and modifications. I also will teach this skill if you are interested...

Music study is great exercise for your brain. It works both the left and right hemispheres of the brain simultaneously because you are thinking both creatively and logically/mathematically at the same time.

I am happy teaching stud
ents at any level, even if you have never picked up an instrument before. I can work with you and get you on the path to being the kind of musician you want to be.

*** Lesson Details ***
I custom tailor my lessons to meet a students individual needs. I am a serious teacher, but I am a laid back person. I am easy going, but I will make sure you learn what you need to learn. I can guarantee after 4 or 5 lessons with me, you will have tripled your knowledge of chords, scales, technique, and song repertoire. I am very patient and am happy to work with students of all ages and skill levels.

I encourage mid to upper level students to bring in CD's or email an MP3/YouTube link of songs they want to learn (if they are at the right level) and I will transcribe them on the spot and go through them with you step by step.

If you want to learn how to play all your favorite songs, I am the teacher for you. I won't make you play music you aren't really interested in, but I will make recommendations for songs to improve your playing and include music theory so that you understand what you are playing and why you are playing it. The point of playing music is to HAVE FUN, after all.

Jenae is a great teacher!

My son just started violin lessons with Jenae and after barely a month is making great progress and staying motivated, even though he's starting this endeavor at almost 11 years old. Jenae's approach is very encouraging and methodical. We have been very pleased with our choice.

About Darren
Hi there! My name is Darren and I look forward to helping you accomplish your goals on the upright bass. I have been teaching since August 2016, but in that time I have helped train two high school students to win auditions into music colleges to pursue music performance and music education degree programs. I have also helped electric bass guitarists transition into playing classical upright bass. I went to Boston Conservatory and graduated with my masters degree, studying with Lawrence Wolfe, associate principal bass of the Boston Symphony Orchestra and principal bass of the Boston Pops Orchestra. Currently I am a professional freelance orchestral bassist in the Boston area, and I have previously performed with several major symphony orchestras in Connecticut including the Waterbury, Wallingford, and New Britain Symphony Orchestras.
Most of my students characterize me as a creative, patient, organized, friendly, and motivated teacher.

Heather may be the youngest voice coach in Boston at the moment, but her wealth of knowledge in singing technique reaches far beyond her years. Not only is she noticeably well educated, but she's also got great observational skills which are really helpful when I'm looking for feedback on how I deliver a song. She is a very cheerful, organized, and sincerely committed instructor. I would recommend her to anyone!

About Matthew
Hey there. My name's Matt, I'm a Boston native who went far far away to LA for music school. Now back in the Allston/Brighton area and looking for students. Professional gigging/recording experience, a wide and eclectic taste for music, and a love for helping students "grok" a new technique or piece of music.

Guitar students can expect a two-pronged approach to my lessons: one half dedicated to development of proper technique, the other half putting that technique to use, creating music. We will focus on the essential habit and routine of practicing. With good practice, any student can expect to see marked improvement week-to-week.

As a teacher I have experience teaching to all different ages and experience levels. The point of music is to enjoy it, and so ultimately our lessons are tailored to helping students do that. Still, expect a
certain level of rigor to our lesson plans. The way to learn is to play, and my students will be expected to learn and play music assigned to them, their performance of which will determine if and when they get to move on to next lessons.

I have a Bachelors of Music from the University of Southern California's Thornton School of Music, where I majored in Studio/Jazz guitar. This was also the beginning of my teaching career, teaching friends and fellow students. As a professional musician I have played everything from original rock'n'roll to side-man gigs with hip-hop and R&B artists and beyond. My jazz training as well as personal interest in jazz fusion, alternative country, and other 'out' genres has given me a wide trick bag with which to play and create.

As a teacher, that same multiversity has given me a certain understanding of how seemingly complicated "maneuvers" on an instrument can seem daunting or incomprehensible. My favorite teaching moment is when I can make the complicated simple for a student.

As a musician personally I'm currently writing with a psychedelic rock outfit, as well as still writing and recording via email and other means with collaborators back in LA. I look forward to meeting you and making music together!
