Book NowI have been teaching professionally for the past six years. As a student who struggled myself in nearly every aspect of education, I understand the importance of individualized learning. As a teacher and performer, I look to find relationships between the emotional and intellectual facets of music. By doing this, I try to uncover the mystery of violin playing, allowing my students to gain an understanding that will last with them forever.
Every single student posseses the potential to fulfill his or her violinistic dreams. I cater my teaching around the goals of each student, while still instilling a high artistic integrity.
Though I center each lesson around building a superior technical foundation, duet playing, the theory of harmony, and aural skills are integral parts of my teaching. I strive for my students to develope a beautiful, in-tune, pure sound that can directly connect to their own emotional palette.

It's the best instrument, right? No matter where you are as a cellist, I'm happy to meet you right there and help you achieve your goals. Together we can explore new repertoire, work on sound production and intonation, and develop an arsenal of different expressive nuances. You'll be able to pursue the instrument at the speed and level of intensity you desire; I am as happy to work with beginners in casual lessons as I am to help more advanced students prepare for recitals and auditions. Did you really think you were going to get away with skipping your scales and arpeggios, though? We're going to have to tackle some of those no matter what.
About Elias
Hello! My name is Elias, I'm a professional pianist, cellist, and orchestra and opera conductor, and I couldn't be more excited to be taking piano, cello, and conducting students of all ages and levels. No matter what you're hoping to get out of your studies, I couldn't be happier to help you along

Throughout my time at Berklee, NEC, and now Juilliard, I have studied with many great teachers and musicians from Wynton Marsalis, Eddie Henderson, Kenny Barron, Tiger Okoshi, John McNeil, and Laurie Frink to Jerry Bergonzi, and Miguel Zenon. The diverse subjects we went over in lessons and classes gives me a unique knowledge of certain styles and musical ideas. I try to be as personal and individual as I can when it comes to teaching students. That was the thing that stood out amongst my favorite teachers.

Some people are afraid of music theory, they think it is a bad word. However, all my instrumental students learn music theory. There is nothing to fear. Music theory is foundational, as important as learning scales and chords. It is necessary to know to play at a high level. In classical music it is an interpretive tool, in jazz it is a tool for improvising. Like note reading, it opens up entire worlds for us to explore. It is FUN!
I teach theory, composition, and improvisation to students of all instruments, even instruments I do not play. I love working with violinists, vocalists, even dulcimer players. I am also available to tutor those who are prepping for high school and college.
My basic chord function theory course is twelve lessons / assignments. With that information students have the knowledge to progress to analytical and improvisational concepts. With some time and effort, everyone I've taught has learned it happily and easily.
About Phillip
I teach music. The guitar, bass guitar, and ukulele just happen to be the particular instruments I choose. Music as a language, discipline, and art, is the goal. I've been teaching, performing, studying, composing, for some thirty years. I've studied and gigged in the classical, jazz, rock, bl

Over the past 12 years, we've given over 3,000,000 lessons to happy customers around the world.

Keith is a wonderful teacher. His so patient and dedicated. He has been teaching our 9 year old daughter guitar over the past year and she has learned so much. He makes an effort to personalize his teaching to her musical interests and aptitude. I highly recommend him. He is always on time and always so pleasant and trust worthy."

There are so many good instructors on this site it was very hard to choose one. I was somewhat nervous about my choice, not knowing how the "chemistry" would be. My first session with Margo was excellent. I found her to be very light in spirit. She is very pleasant and relaxed, and has great skill in helping you to relax. She has a wonderful sense of humor which makes the session not intense. In the first session she helped to reach notes that I have never been able to reach. I feel that my experience with her will continue to be very pleasant and that I will reach my goals. I would definitely recommend her to everyone."
