*** Lesson Details ***
I am laid-back but hardworking and expect an equal level of commitment from my students. I am primarily interested in teaching beginner-intermediate level pupils. Prospective students can expect to start each lesson with vocal exercises focusing on breath support, posture and pitch. Any professional performer understands the importance of warming up prior to performing! Once properly warmed up, you give your voice the range and flexibility it needs to sing beautifully and effectively! I encourage note-taking as well as recording the lessons either on cassette or even your cellphone to assist in practicing on your own between lessons. Depending on my students level of experience, I will then decide which songs to work on that would best fit your range and area of interest. Once a certain amount of progress has been made I will open the doors to my students deciding on songs they'd like to work on specifically as well. After 3-6 months, I would anticipate my students to be able to effectively warm-up their voices on their own through exercises we will have covered, at least a basic understanding of how to sight-read your melody and certainly have a handful of songs memorized and ready to add to your repertoire!

I would bring my keyboard to each lesson unless one was provided (tuned pianos are okay as well). I would also bring music and texts that I would find beneficial to each particular student. I would expect my student to provide a journal to take notes and track progress. Also, though not necessary in all cases, I would expect my student to have sheet music for songs they're interested in learning as well as CD/cassette/MP3/etc. of songs they're interested in learning.

I would start with a foundation of proper warm-ups, breathing techniques, and vocal exercises with me accompanying on piano. We would then spend the second half of the lesson working on songs primarily of my students choosing. I would be comfortable with just about any genre thus being able to cater to each one of my student's unique areas of interest.

This product has great features

Words will never be enough to express what Danielle has done for my daughter and her love of singing. Danielle has shown so much patience and commitment through her instruction and has boosted my daughters confidence 110%. She knows how to chose the perfect song for Alexis' voice and the emails that she sends after each session provide the proper tools for my daughter to carry out her 1 hour session to a full week. I could not have picked a better vocal coach for my daughter.

Exceeds expectations

My daughter Julia has been taking singing lessons with Danielle since July. Julia is in second grade and this is her first time taking singing lessons. Danielle has devoted so much time to researching good vocal exercises and music selections for a young singer and also to learning the songs Julia was interested in singing. Danielle always follows up within 24 hours with the audio for the lesson and an encouraging email. Danielle is very patient with Julia and takes a genuine interest in her. She listens to the little stories Julia likes to share with her and remembers details of what Julia shares, and has even taken a little extra time to teach Julia a little about playing the keyboard. I can't say enough good things about Danielle. She is a fantastic teacher and a lovely person.

Singing lessons

I run a mentoring program and one of my mentees really wanted to learn how to sing. Through Take Lessons we found Danielle. She is terrific. Very professional and very patient. My mentee is learning so much with Danielle's help. I don't think this 16 year old girl has ever really been expected to work hard on perfecting something so it has been so good for her. This whole experience has been a real joy!

Hello,
I am Vasiliy M, Boston University School of Music Alumnus (DMA in Composition). We dwell in Boston since Fall 2002; before that time , we lived in New York, where I studied Composition at Mannes College, The New School For Music. I received both BM, and MM degrees from Mannes in 1999, and 2001, respectively. Before an arrival to US, in 1994, I studied Jazz Performance, Electric Bass Major, and Classical Composition, at Moldova State Conservatory, from 1988 to 1993, respectively.
I was raised in the family, where music is an essential part of its daily life; my father, Grigoriy, before his retirement, was a military band trombone player, and, quite naturally, I was exposed to music, and encouraged by my parents to learn playing an instrument of my choice, from my early childhood.
My mother, Anisia Kondrat'ievna,
possesses both beautiful vocal abilities and perfect pitch , although she has never had a chance to develop her natural gifts any further. But I have heard my mother singing, and these moments remain one of the most touching and impressive musical experiences, that I have ever received, and remember to this very day.
Only after a considerable life experiences, abound of trials and mistakes, at the age of twenty five, I have come to a clear realization, that music remains my greatest passion, and that I would have to become a professional musician. With help and support of friends and colleagues, I have entered Community College in Soroki city, Moldova Republic, where I have studied Choral Conducting for Amateurs. I have graduated from school in May of 1988, having written a few instrumental and vocal compositions of my own, and, quite unexpectedly for myself, was invited, that summer, to visit Moldova State Conservatory, with the prospect of audition for the Composition Major. After the meeting with the Chair of the Department, I was offered an opportunity to be accepted to the Master Degree Program in Composition, provided I will have completed two years of preliminary studies of Music Theory, Music Harmony/Voice Leading, and many other related disciplines.
Why do I bring all of these facts to this Essay? I know for the fact now, that I was not ready for what was awaiting ahead of me, back then. There was no way, that I could cope with the demands of Composition Program curriculum. But I have had love for music, that my parents have implemented in me throughout my childhood; I have had natural abilities, that Heavens supplied me with: and I have had a chance to make my dream a reality, providing I do everything that I will have to, during the following years of struggles and study.
The decision was made, and my studies have begun. I have come through every mistake, defeat, and mind-barriers imaginable, and if it would not be a continuous stream of professional help and support, that I have received from my numerous teachers, mentors, and professors, along the years of study, my goals could never be attained to any modest, but real degree.
Whenever I have a chance to teach, tutor, or assist other musicians with their study, my past experience always reminds me, that any person may experience some difficulties of various nature with the learning material, from time to time, and that those difficulties should be addressed by student's teacher with the highly individual approach, however time-and effort-consuming it may be. Patience and respect, in regard to the students, have become as important aspects of teaching to me, as those of discipline and professionalism.
My studies have come to an end; I see now, that the world of music is an endless entity, for it has no boundaries, and we all have to maintain our further progress, in order to move to our chosen destinations, and to help others with their own advancements.

I would be more than willing to assist my prospective students with their various musical endeavors, and people's willingness to either play music instruments,take voice lessons, or to study Music Theory/ Musicianship disciplines will serve us as a starting point for our work. Through the diligent preliminary talk we will discuss various aspects of interest that my students have developed in relation to music, so we could plan and design our future lessons according to an initial discussion. My job and responsibility will be to make an intelligent assessment of my students' natural abilities for the given subject of study, to create vigorous learning atmosphere during our meetings, and to give my students professional instructions to the best of my humble abilities, for the benefits of their musical , aesthetic, and personal development. I will encourage my students to learn as much as they can, at the given moment, but I will not ever attempt to exceed people's natural capabilities. Participation in Music with love and fun should be as rewarding and valuable to the music amateur, as professional performing career ( with its highly demanding standards) stands for classically trained musicians. During our study sessions, we will work upon the goals and tasks that we have discussed at the beginning of our meetings. This is the first step in beginning or continuing a creative journey that will not only make you a better artist but a better person, as participation in any art will do. I am all about finding out how music and theatre and film and, really, any artistic medium can help us communicate better, unveil new perspectives, and foster a more open, generous, accepting, and passionate relationship with the world around us.

I've been an artist in many different capacities spanning many different mediums including theatre, film, and music as a teacher, director, actor, writer, and production/project manager. I am currently pursuing my MFA in Theatre Education at Boston
University in the fall. I also have received a Master's Degree in Theatre Arts from the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, and a Bachelor's of Science in Film and Television from Boston University. I currently teach at the college level such classes as Speech Communications and Acting & Performance 1. Both classes address the needs of non-theatre majors, and help find entry points into the work that help introduce them to the medium and introduce skills that are applicable to their own work and life. Specifically, we address confidence in public speaking, and how to navigate storytelling as a powerful communications and public relations tool. My most recent adventure was performing in Tony Award Winning director Darko Tresnjak's production of "Romeo & Juliet" at Hartford Stage. I will be performing in Jim Petosa's production of "Good" at New Repertory Theatre in October 2016. As a directed, I recently spearheaded Will Eno's "Tragedy: a tragedy" at the BU School of Theatre. And as a production manager, I've been working consistently with Commonwealth Shakespeare Company since last summer when I was associate production manager for "Romeo & Juliet", the free Shakespeare on the Common production.

PRESENTATION COACHING
These lessons have a wide range of applicability. Presentation coaching can be useful for corporate executives for in-house presentations within the workplace as well as speeches for conferences and other venues. I've also been helpful for students and teachers looking to improve their school presentation skills as well as their ability to have greater confidence in seminar settings. We will use highly accessible exercises to work on awareness, listening, textual analysis, and public speaking.

THEATRE AUDITION PREP
These lessons are suited to those who want to develop their ability to enter an audition room with confidence and charisma and get the job or role you've prepared for. The most important thing to remember about auditioning is that the people behind the table want you to be the right person for the job as much as you yourself want the job. These lessons will be most useful to those auditioning with a monologue or cold reading sides. If you are not working towards a specific audition, we can work on broad spectrum auditioning and mock auditions. These lessons are available to any age and experience level.
**I can work with those who already have pieces in mind that they'd like to practice on as well as those who need help finding a monologue.

Hi! I have a degree in Early Music Voice from the Longy School of Music of Bard College, and have studied voice with private teachers intermittently over the past two decades.

I also have a Master's in Cello Performance, and can teach cello at the beginner to upper intermediate level. My experience in teaching is with modern (standard) cello, but I can also teach the basics of baroque cello (with gut strings and a baroque bow). Gut strings can be finicky, but their sound is warm and expressive. If you are interested to know more, just drop me a note! Another instrument I can teach is the Viola da Gamba, a very interesting early 6- or 7-string instrument with gut strings. (That's the instrument I'm holding in my profile picture!)
Aside from music, I have taught English as a Foreign and Second Language (in Bulgaria with Peace Corps,
in New Mexico with Berlitz, at the U. of New Mexico). I would be very pleased to help students of any age with reading, listening comprehension, and writing.

My name is Bronwyn Keith-Hynes and I am a bluegrass and Irish fiddler living in Boston, MA. I am one of only a few fiddlers who play and teach bluegrass and Celtic music at a professional level. I have been playing the fiddle for 21 years, beginning at the age of 3 and graduated from Berklee College of Music in 2009 with a Professional Diploma in Violin Performance. Bronwyn is a gifted fiddle teacher with an uncommon ability to intuit what her students need and how they learn best. She teaches a broad range of students, including accomplished musicians, but I came to her as a 50-year-old with basically no musical background at all. As anyone who has tried this instrument knows, the fiddle has a learning curve that can be daunting to beginners. But Bronwyn managed to coax me to the next level and the next. She is deeply knowledgeable, patient and has an infectious love of the music. She makes it fun. My sense is that great musicians are not always great teachers. Bronwyn is both. I would recommend her to anyone.

We were thrilled with Josh! Our son really enjoyed his lessons and improved significantly working with him for the last year. Josh is a motivational teacher - our son WANTED to practice each day and that is because of Josh's inspiration and modeling what it takes to be a great drummer. Our son gained both the confidence and ability to audition for an make it into 3 high school bands this year. He couldn't have done it without Josh. He's a terrific percussion teacher and a great guy!

Benjamin is great. He has the task of teaching a 46 year old longtime electric bass player and a 12 year old electric bass player (father/daughter). He is teaching us both the fundamentals of the upright bass, which is such a different instrument. We look forward to continued lessons with Benjamin.

I'm a student from India currently pursuing a Master's degree in Piano Performance at Longy School of Music of Bard College.
Although I've spent most of my time up until now studying music, I have also had the opportunity to teach students of different ages. If there's one thing that I've learnt from my experiences so far, it is that there's no definite maximum age to start learning piano at. The only requirements for one to be able to learn to play any instrument are patience and the will to learn and work hard.
I focus mainly on helping students develop a healthy, efficient technique and good interpretative skills.

I began playing trumpet again after a 45 years break (I played in HS). I was concerned because I tend to be very self-conscious and nervous. Holly is amazing, not only because of her technical expertise, but because she has taken all the stress and worry out of learning to play. She has made music what it should have always been ... FUN! I love our lessons together and enjoy practicing. She is a wonderful instructor and I would highly recommend her to anyone wanting to learn to play an instrument.
