About Glenn
I have been tutoring trumpet for nine years. My tutoring approach is first to determine the student's purpose, goals, and objectives and then determine his/her current performance level. Next, we begin instruction to take the student to the next level and beyond. I offer trumpet news and tips on my blog.

I have a B.A. degree in English Literature with a minor in music, from the University of Washington. While an undergraduate student at U.W., I was a scholarship student in the Husky Band; marched at football games, the Tournament of Roses Parade, and the Rose Bowl game; played in pep band at basketball games; and played in a brass ensemble. Also, I played in orchestras for musicals and opera. In high school, I was a member of the Texas All-State Band.

I now specialize in private lessons for trumpet and cornet. Also, in September 20
15, I began my fifth year of teaching brass instruments for two elementary bands at Skyview Jr. High School in Bothell. In spring 2014, I taught trumpet sectionals in the Symphonic Band and Wind Ensemble at Inglemoor High School in Kenmore. I'm a member of the U.W. Husky Alumni Band, as well as being Bugler for the VFW Post 1040 Honor Guard, playing at numerous military funerals and ceremonies. Finally, I play in a church orchestra. Please find my blog online.

***Geographic Coverage***
We can meet at your home (no travel charge, unless far from Interstate Highway corridors) or at Ted Brown Music in the University District, Seattle (small fee for studio rental). I cover homes from about I-90 northward on the Seattle and Bellevue sides and in Southwest Snohomish County. When I tutor youths in a residence, an adult must be present. When students live in more distant locations, we can meet at Ted Brown Music.

*** Travel Equipment ***
I bring my own mouthpiece (and horn, occasionally), lesson books, and CD's to your home. Students have their own horn, music stand, school music and music lesson books and CD's, if any.

*** Specialties ***
Marching band, concert band, brass ensemble, pep band, jazz band, orchestra.

About Raymond
My name is Ray and I teach piano and organ. I started teaching with Take Lessons in 2012 when I moved to Austin, Texas. Before that, I lived in California where I directed music at churches for over 10 years, served as pianist and organist, and conducted several choirs and music groups. I also started teaching private piano lessons after graduating from the University of the Pacific in Stockton, California with a degree in Music Education.
I now live in Snohomish, Washington with my husband Dan, and son Galvin. We are (still) enjoying the lush green and cooler weather of the PNW!
I consider myself an organist, before pianist, because the organ is my first love! The organ is so similar to the piano, yet it is vastly different and comes with it its own unique excitement! As a teacher, I enjoy watching young musicians discover their
abilities. I look forward to helping you get excited about the piano or organ and making music!

*** Lesson Details ***
My beginning piano students can expect to learn how to read music, use their fingers on the keys correctly, and play several songs or pieces in 3 to 4 months. I use piano method material primarily from the Faber Piano Adventures series, but use other methods as well.
My organ students can expect to learn basic keyboard skills as in learning piano, learn how to play the pedal board--a big and exciting part about the organ!--and also specific organ techniques and gain the appreciation for the difference the organ is.
I believe that I am an enthusiastic teacher, gently encouraging, but firm and persistent as well. I want you to be excited about music, but I also want you to learn what you need to be able to make that music!

*** Travel Equipment ***
I don't have equipment, but I expect the student to have a piano at home. In the past when I have taught organ, I could teach at a church, or at my home, but I don't have an organ in my home (in Snohomish) anymore. We would have to make arrangements with a facility with an organ.

*** Specialties ***
General beginning piano, basic chord reading and improvisation, Classical organ.

My 15 year old son, who has some experience with music through orchestra at school, began playing the piano on his own about two years ago. Although he has some skill, there are many areas where he still needs help. Ray is an excellent judge of Jack's ability and is able to guide him in fingering, sight reading and reading base clef. My son has found Ray very helpful because he picks up on what he needs and knows how to explain what to do to improve. He is learning something new with each lesson. Besides being knowledgeable, skilled and patient, Ray is also very personable! My son looks forward to his lesson each week!

About Ghazal
Music is a tool for spiritual progress of every human being.

I started Piano when I was 8 years old. My siblings were taking lessons at that time and hearing them play it made me fall in love with Piano, therefore, my parents had me get started in taking lessons as well. I have been playing Piano for about 15 years now and it started to become part of my everyday life. I have had four different teachers for piano and they were all amazing teachers. One of my private piano teachers was a student of Iran’s most popular pianist and composer, Emanuel Malek Aslanian. I also had an amazing Piano instructor back in Iran who made me become an expert in techniques as well as enjoying the melodies. I mainly play and teach Classical music. Beethoven and Mozart are my favorite composers and I enjoy playing their pieces very much.
I have been te
aching piano for about 4 years now and it is very joyful. I love communicating with my students and do my best to help them discover their talents and interest. I want the students to enjoy what they learn and play.

I also have a BS in Biological Sciences from University of California, Irvine. Biology also taught me how Music has such great influences on human body and soul. It relaxes people and help them get through difficulties. Being a Bio students and teaching Piano at the same time was the best thing that ever happened to me, that's why I really want everyone to experience music in their lives and get touched by it.

I also speak Two languages; English and Farsi. I am Persian and was born and raised in Iran. I moved to the USA when I was 15 years old.

I cannot wait to start working with you and teach you to my best ability what you desire to learn.

*** Lesson Details ***
One of the most important tools in my teaching is to get to know my students well. I try to maintain a really close friendship with my students. I want to know what type of music/style my students are interested in and make sure I bring out their talents and teach them the necessary techniques as well. Students need to enjoy what they play and I make sure that they do. I also talk to my students about their goals and what they want to achieve by learning Piano and motivate them to go for what they want to learn.
Piano should be joyful and exciting. I hope that my students learn the techniques as well as their style of music after being with me for a while and I do my best to discover that in them.

*** Studio Equipment ***
I have a Piano at home.

*** Travel Equipment ***
students should have a piano/keyboard available at their homes. They should be able to buy their own books as well once I choose a book based on their abilities for them.

*** Specialties ***

It was awful. She never showed up after almost $300.000. The first 2 weeks she made excuses. The third week she just didn't bother. We want our money back. This is a scam, and very disappointed. We got a keyboard for our daughter for Christmas to learn piano. She hasn't been able to use her nice Yamaha weighted piano keyboard yet. Shameful

In search of helping our 10 year old son build some self-confidence we sought out clarinet lessons this summer. He started playing in school last year, and it was something our reluctant son liked "enough" to want to build up some competency. Joshua has been amazing! He finds just the right amount of challenge to encourage my son to practice, but not get discouraged. My son looks forward to his lesson each week and told me that he isn't even sure he wants to switch to saxophone next year because he is having so much fun playing the clarinet. Joshua is amazing with children, and has spent time getting to know our kiddo and find out what will work best for him. Patient, calm, and inspiring--very talented instructor.

Joshua Blatman is a fantastic music teacher. He has a great resume, is experienced in a variety of instruments, and a solid background in teaching.

I whole-heartedly recommend Joshua for anyone of any age and any skill level who wants to enrich their life learning guitar. I appreciate the fact that he makes the time and has the patience to adapt to my needs. Joshua is flexible in scheduling - especially for those unforeseen incidents - which is appreciated.

Being an adult beginner with music lessons, Joshua eases my frustration on immediately wanting to play perfect notes and chords. I look forward to continuing lessons.

About Ben
I have taught bass, guitar, ukelele, recording, and rock band classes in several contemporary music school programs for over three years. I have discovered that I have a strong passion for teaching. Watching my students progress as musicians is the single most rewarding experience of my music career.
.
I studied bass guitar with renowned bassist Ryan Beck for 8 years and also took lessons on guitar, upright bass, and voice. I hold two certificates from Berklee School of Music; a Specialist Certificate in General Musical Studies and a Professional Certificate in Production With Ableton Live. From my home studio I produce my both my band and compositions for tv and radio. My song "City Lights" was recently used in a television spot for The Federal Way Chamber of Commerce.

My most notable performance work is with alt-country rocker
s, The Hasslers, in which I am the audio engineer, producer and bass player. I single-handedly recorded, mixed, and
produced our 2016 album, "State Center", which has received radio play across the US and positive attention from notable music blogs such as Northwest Music Scene. Stephen Carradini of Independent Clauses placed the album in his Top of 2016 list. With The Hasslers I have shared the stage with national touring acts such as Jason Isbell, Blitzen Trapper, Langhorne Slim and The Law, and The Cave Singers

I have also been an in-demand session player in numerous professional musical theater productions including Hair, Grease, and Phantom of The Opera.

Finally, after giving all my credentials, I'm a fun easygoing person! I want to build lessons around music that you are passionate about and have fun playing these songs with you. I love to teach and I would love to share my musical knowledge with you. Contact me for a free trial lesson!

About Grant
I have studied with some of the finest trombonists in the world, have performed in the nation's top orchestras, and am firmly committed to excellence in the trombone field. Music is one of the most indescribably powerful and moving things in the entire world, and I want students to, above all, simply enjoy playing and experiencing this wonderful gift. The trombone is, of course, merely a means to an end in this regard; yet its rich, golden, and versatile sound is what particularly draws me to it. My approach to playing the trombone is simple: producing the most beautiful sound on every note, as easily as possible. I think it is necessary to have the best sound that you can possibly make on the trombone in your head from day one, and to this end, I strive to play as much as possible for and along with the student so that they may develop t
heir OWN ideal sound concept. I of course couple this with instruction on all the other fundamentals of trombone playing and music making (scales, rhythms, playing in tune, breathing, etc). But never forget that the ultimate goal is to perform the music the way it goes. By this I do not not mean playing all the correct notes, but instead performing the music in the correct style and context as the composer intended. Always remember that music is to be shared with others, and that making a statement with the music we play, in a way expressing our deepest emotions, is what this is all about!

About Ryan
In addition to being a piano, drum, and music software teacher for over a decade, I also work as a composer and sound designer for video games. As someone who had a lot of great teachers growing up, I think it's important to emphasize the fun in learning an instrument, instead of only focusing on technical skills or music theory (though those are big too).

There's no point in taking lessons if you don't like what you're learning. To that end, my specialty is in creating a lesson plan that revolves around getting you the skills you need to perform the music you want to play. Here are just a few examples of the kinds of pieces I've helped students learn in the past:

-I've taught students a ton of Hollywood's best movie scores on piano; everything from Pirates of the Caribbean to The Avengers. Even The Exorcist, if you're down to get scar
y!

-I've helped students learn the ins and outs of ear training by teaching them how to play their favorite anime theme songs from memory alone.

-Like classical or jazz? I've shown people how to shred on everything from Chopin to Count Basie.

-Video game nerd (like me)? There are a ton of amazing soundtracks in games, and I've taught many students how to play songs from Zelda, Halo, and Final Fantasy, as well as indie games like Undertale and Journey.

-Want to be that guy/girl that can bang out awesome Karaoke jams at parties? I've taught people to play hits by Lady Gaga, Journey, 21 Pilots, and many more.

I've worked with kids and adults from beginner to advanced, so no matter what your age, background or skill level, I'd love to meet you and chat about what you want to get out of learning music.
