Have you always wanted to learn a musical instrument, but held yourself back because reading music seemed like an impossible task? I will break down the basics of written music & musicianship so that you feel comfortable, confident, and ready to apply your new knowledge to your instrument of choice.
We will start from the basics of music and work outwards. Our topics will include identifying elements of the staff, key signatures, time signatures, rhythms, note values and notation, dynamic markings, major and minor scales, musical phrasing, and sonata form, among others. Lessons will be tailored to your level of experience, so if any subject is already familiar to you, we can lightly touch on it before diving in to more complex details or other subjects.
My goal is to make understanding written music accessible to all, so there is no limit on age or level of musical experience required for lessons. The study of music theory can be a great way to add to lessons you're already ...

I came to Chelsea as a beginner vocalist. I was pretty clueless in many aspects of singing and have never felt comfortable singing in front of others. Chelsea helped me to come out of my shell and really analyze how the voice works, from basic anatomy to fun little tricks of the trade. She was extremely reliable and patient with my unpredictable schedule. I am so sad that I will not be in the Baltimore area any longer but I plan to continue working with Chelsea via Skype! She is just wonderful and has so much knowledge to offer any level of student. Thank you Chelsea!!"
