I studied viola from 4th grade through college and have had many different teachers. I took a very long break from studying because it was getting to be too much like work and no fun.
Returning as an adult student was a tough decision for me, but Kendra has made it fun again! We've worked through some of my old bad habits that none of my previous teachers addressed and I can play without left hand pain for the first time in my life. It's amazing!

Kendra is patient and encouraging and has really helped me rediscover my joy and love of playing the viola. I can't recommend her enough!

No matter how un well I play she always encourages and I feel like "ok I will try again and practice a little more and guess what I do improve . I have progressed 100%
ted tronnes
Kendra had my 13 year old for about a year and a half as a complete beginner, and we'd still be with her for sure were it not for an easier alternative at a new school this Fall. Kendra has an amazing understanding of the younger student and what incentivizes them to learn and grow fast. My child practiced once a day for at least 30 minutes and in the above time is already making a lot of beautiful music. If you/yours is motivated, Special K is the way! Thnx, Kendra

I always like to focus on the most important aspects of classical violin training which include hand positioning, posture, intonation, technique, sight reading, rhythm training, and playing scales. I like to challenge my students because I want them to improve and grow week by week but I also encourage them with positive affirmations to create a kind and welcoming environment for everybody. I do not like to reprimand students, therefore, I am not too strict but I do, however, ask that students be consist with practicing and be responsible with any assignments we may be working on in class.

If you are enthusiastic about music and are interested in learning more about vocal techniques and vocal performance strategies, I am here for you!! Very nice and professional. My daughter loves her.

I’m an adult viola student which is kind of different for me. I started playing again after a couple years and I’m trying to learn ways to play with other musicians. Emily has been really good with helping me focus on what I want to learn. She is patient with me and also plays with me and makes me feel comfortable in my lesson. afterwards I feel good and positive and I want to play more! I suggest her for anyone trying to be creative and wants to improve on tempo, rythm, tone etc. she’s good.

It is a year later and my daughter is playing well. Anje enjoys her classes and thinks Emily is a great instructor.
