When I was studying theory in college I remember not having the need to study much for it.I realize that's because I was viewing it from my piano background view and was able to see the elements of music and how they relate to each other easily through my experience with the piano.
In teaching theory I maintain that philosophy.I see theory as an organized system to express the experience of music and not necessarily a strictly academic and theoretical discipline.

About Glafkos

I'm a professional musician and teacher with over 20 years of experience.I feel that music is a beautiful thing in our world, magical at times and can be incredibly exciting, fun and rewarding.A universal language and a powerful tool, that can help us connect with ourselves and each other. I always

When I teach, I strive to help students learn the most efficient practice methods and to develop a healthy attitude towards learning music. Your progression on the instrument is what will take you to the next step. Either playing solo and chamber have the same core values: beautiful tone production, fine intonation, pure rhythm, expressive playing, knowledge of musical styles, acute listening, excellent ensemble skills. If you study with me, I will help you master these concepts and techniques at your own pace and help you find your own musical voice through playing the piano/viola.
I look forward to working with each of you :)

About Julia

I have been playing the piano for 24 years and the viola for 17 years, and have been classically trained in both. Since I was 18th I have participated in many well-known music festivals and masterclasses, and have performed in Taiwan, China, Singapore, Germany, Canada, the Czech Republic, Austria,

"Susan is an excellent teacher because she tailors her approach to the student's needs and goals, regardless of the student's age or experience or what their ultimate goals might be. Singing is not one-size-fits-all and different people learn in different ways. Susan is very sensitive to that. In my case, she mixed exercises from a number of sources with her own techniques and guidance to help me develop some good habits and techniques and ultimately find my natural voice. I can be very hard on myself, but I always believed I could reach my goals with Susan."

For example, when my son seemed to connect better with the process and logic behind the music, she got him started composing his own! Why Playing Slow is The Best Way to Practice Piano

Playing fast is cool. Audiences love to see fingers flying fast over the keys, effortlessly and in perfect control (or even out-of-control!) It provides a sense of exhilaration and danger, and taps into our love of exhibition and speed. The pianist themselves also enjoy playing fast, as the effort and exercise is satisfying once grasped. But despite the love of playing fast, the practice and journey to gain this ability is actually very much slow practice. There is a famous story of a co …
