None of these is exclusive, as all of them should be fun! *** Lesson Details *** I prefer to teach in a relaxed, friendly atmosphere where the student can ask ...
David discovered his love for music early on at the age of seven with the musical/movie: The Sound of Music. He and his siblings would entertain their babysitter by acting out the entire musical - singing and dancing along with the soundtrack. To make it even more fun, they would sometimes speed up the vinyl record and perform in extra-fast mode! (And that was way before 'Wii - Just Dance!') He vividly remembers his first real musical instruction back in elementary school: “Everyone in 4th Grade was given a Recorder to learn how to play 'Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star'. When the music teacher had the class play together, she noticed that I wasn't looking down at my music booklet as I played, since I was 'playing by ear'. Not only was my booklet turned to the wrong page; it ...
I have been actively involved in music all my life. I started playing violin 15 years ago. I never would have expected it to take me where I am today. It has guided me to become a confident, respectful, and creatively evolving adult. I teach mostly classical style violin, but do have a few students who are mainly interested in church music, pop, folk, and fiddle. I love to arrange popular music for my students, and encourage this side of the violin as well as the classics. I have played in a few symphony orchestras on the west coast Including the Orange County H.S. of the Arts Philharmonic, and the Spokane Honors Symphony. I have been involved in the creating of Composition Clubs, and String Quartets as well as String Trios in the Pacific Northwest. My main focus with the ...
I'm a 23 year-old performing musician with 7 years of teaching experience. I'm an active member in the NC Triangle music scene as a performer and recording artist. I also teach Pilates, where I learned the value of self-awareness and balance, which is at the core of my teaching principles. I feel I have something to offer to all levels and ages and have found my method to be highly engaging for young children and beginners. :: My Home Studio :: I have a living room studio in Carrboro equipped with my band gear, making for fun multi-instrumental lessons! Recording gear and a powerful PA allow us to play to various audio tracks and record our own material. These tools are invaluable and key to my personal development as an artist. There are usually two kits set up (my band ...
The way of fiddling that I teach is deeply rooted in authentic old-time Southern styles, especially from the Appalachian mountain region - traditional music that I've played and taught for decades. I learned this music first hand during many visits with elder masters, from countless hours of listening to and deciphering the music on old commercial and field recordings, and over many years of playing at fiddler's conventions, on back porches, and in kitchen sessions. I have performed at major folk and traditional music festivals, and on radio and television broadcasts in the US and overseas, including A Prairie Home Companion, Good Morning America, and BBC-Belfast. With the many concerts, dances, and other venues where I've also played, I guess you could say that I have gotten around a ...
My name is Alli and I am a recent graduate from UNC Chapel Hill with a degree in child development and family studies education as well as a degree in psychology. While my education program focused on birth to kindergarten education, I am a fully licensed teacher from birth to 6th grade. I am currently working at The Little School at Duke as a preschool teacher in a 3-year-old classroom, but I'd also like to supplement this job by working with children in any way that I can! I have 8 years of experience with single-handedly teaching music to 100 kids per summer, ages 3 - 12, every summer at my local church. Even though it's not a paid position, I always find myself coming back because I love interacting with all the children. It's a really rewarding experience seeing how far they come
