Sean R. Lowell, MA

About Sean

In the 20 years I've been playing guitar and drums, I've done quite a bit. In the past, I toured quite extensively with my band, playing with the likes of All That Remains, As I Lay Dying, blessthefall, Alesana, Soulfly and many others (for all you metal and post hardcore fans). I've been teaching independently since 2002 and with music store affiliation since 2006. I've also played countless corporate events and weddings as a pickup musician with Murray Hill Talent in Boston. As the experience piles on, so do the real world inspired lessons and tips. *** Lesson Details *** First lessons are highly variable depending on a students experience. If you've never played an instrument before, expect the first day to be a lot of talking. While there will be plenty to take in, it won't be ...

Robert M. Exeter, NH

About Robert

Robert's exemplary and diverse career all began when he was a very small boy. His magical, musical journey began with his Grandfather, Donald Mcullick, a country singer/guitarist, who spent the 1950's touring and performing with blockbuster artists such as Johnny Cash, Buddy Holly and Roy Orbison. Grandpa would take his young protégé out to the swing under the apple tree in the backyard and show him songs on an old acoustic guitar. He would later give that guitar to Robert. That guitar was the key to the music box of Robert's life. A life long dedicated to the art and craft of music. Robert's high school years were very non-traditional. While most students spent time at football games and pep rallies, Robert spent his time performing in pit orchestras and composing for local theater ...

Elizabeth L. Lowell, MA

About Elizabeth

I am a multi instrumentalist and professional musician of over a decade- and would love to teach you everything I know! I have been studying music for over 12 years, through school and college, on my own, and with private instructors including Chris Parello, Mike Orenzoff, Norma Hooks, and Buddy Charleton. I consider my main instrument to be guitar- I have been playing for about 12 years, and am comfortable in just about any professional situation on my instrument. I play lead guitar, rhythm, and we can go over many techniques and subjects to help you become more versatile and well rounded: including ostinato picking, slide/open tunings, improvisation, and composition. I also teach Bassoon- which I studied throughout high school and college. Pedal Steel Guitar, I have studied for about

I am extemly pleased with the progress I have made thusfar. Elizabeth's method of teaching has taught me so much more than I would have expected to learn in the short amount of time that I have been involved so far. I am looking forward to a long and productive musical journey with Elizabeth and I'm confident that my talents, with Elizabeth's help, will improve beyond what I have imagined to achieve on my own through many years of unproductive struggle.

Although I'm not technically a student of Phil's, I learn a lot from him every time I play and teach with him. We perform regularly at Berklee, where I'm a professor, and we give concerts and masterclasses all over the Northeast together (most recent was at Cornell). Phil's a warmhearted, patient, brilliant teacher and an outstanding and creative musician, seamlessly putting together everything he knows--jazz, shredding, classical--there's no boundaries for him! He's great at explaining things, and he never belittles a question, no matter how dumb you might have thought it was. Phil's a great friend and a great teacher. -John Funkhouser, Berklee College of Music, Boston

In addition to being the most talented guitarist and musician I have ever had the opportunity to play with, Phil is an astoundingly good teacher. I've played guitar for 8 years and taken private lessons the entire time. Phil has been my teacher for the past 2 years and in that time I have progressed as a musician more than I could have ever imagined. Phil has been the biggest factor in my decision to major in music, due to his unrivaled musical talent, his kind, unassuming, (and funny) demeanor and his seemingly limitless knowledge of the fretboard. He is well versed in so many genres of music, and has such an effortless grasp on improvisation. Any guitarist, from immediate beginners to seasoned professionals, can learn so much from Phil. Phil is the man! I had been playing for several years before I took lessons with him. He has introduced me to volumes of new music, helped me grow as an improviser, and even taught me how to read for the guitar (which was never my goal in taking lessons, but I'm very happy I can read now). He's helped to expand my playing by constantly introducing new and creative ideas in a supportive atmosphere.

Phil demonstrates a mastery of his instrument while always making his lessons accessible to the student. Definitely check this guy out if you want to reach the next level!
Joshua G. Salem, NH

About Joshua

I have been teaching piano privately for, off an on, 7 years. I started when I was a junior in high school, and have always loved it. I have a bachelor's degree in History and French, having graduated magna cum laude from Merrimack College. Half of my degree was done at Université Laval (with all classes in French) before I transferred to the U.S. After I graduated from Merrimack, I taught middle school French and Social Studies for a year and a half while the private school searched for someone more permanent. I have always loved helping with whatever subjects are brought my way and find virtually all subjects interesting! I can be more flexible than the hours shown. If there is any information missing, I will do my best to fill in any gaps!

3 Reasons Why Piano Players Should Also Learn the Organ
There are many reasons why a music student may find themselves learning to play piano on a keyboard rather than on a baby grand: cost, space, or simply lack of access, for example.
