Overcome your fears and master mathematics with an easygoing professional STEM tutor

Do you suffer from "math blindness"? More of a humanities person? Does math seem like a daunting, intimidating task? Having trouble translating seemingly random formulas into deep intuitive understanding? Not sure why any of this even matters? I'm a professional STEM tutor with nearly a decade of experience, and I'm here to help you sort everything out! I'm an easygoing, approachable guy who loves my daily job, which is to help college students pass their mathematics classes. Ever since I could speak I was naturally talented at math, skipping far ahead of other students my age. I excelled in mathematics throughout my education, and have been tutoring mathematics ever since. As someone with primarily functional knowledge of math—I used it constantly throughout my teaching and research—my focus is on solidifying basic mathematical concepts, techniques, and tricks for surviving your courses. My experience and teaching style is perfect for pre-college students, as well as college students who aren't mathematics majors. Your teacher probably insists that all of the material is important, but there's no doubt that particular concepts are more foundational than others. That's why I specialize in recognizing and isolating core math topics from the rest, because regular people like us can't possibly master everything we learn in one math class. You might feel fearful and unprepared, but don't let it spiral out of control! I'd love to help you catch up, or even get an early start. STEM is my passion, so let's get started!

    About Trevor P.

I graduated with honors from the University of Michigan with Bachelor of Science degrees in Astronomy & Astrophysics and Interdisciplinary Physics, then obtained a Master of Science in Astronomy from New Mexico State University, with the ultimate goal of obtaining a teaching professorship. I've been a professional tutor for 8 years, with experience tutoring college students of all ages, backgrounds, cultures, and abilities in a variety of STEM subjects: astronomy, physics, mathematics through Calculus III, general chemistry, and even programming. I know how steep the learning curve can be in STEM fields (particularly physics); I almost failed my first physics class! If you're giving it your all, yet you're still hopelessly lost, I'm here to tell you that you CAN overcome this. Whether you have a learning disability, a terrible teacher, struggles with mental health, or just a hectic life, I've been where you are. I specialize in helping students learn how to recognize which concepts are most important, how to approach/set up difficult problems, and how to turn adversity into strength. No matter how/why you're struggling, I see you. I'd love to help you without any stuffy, formal nonsense getting in the way; your learning success is my only goal. I don't try to hover above my students, because we humans don't learn well when we feel lesser. I'm incredibly easy to get along with, and have no problem adjusting to your personal learning style. I look forward to meeting you!
