    About Tom F.

I love to talk math. My interests orbit around probability theory, analysis, & algebra, with additional experience in physics & computer science. I have a BS in math from Temple University, where I excelled in all of my courses. I accept final grade requests for proof! I've also worked as a STEM Instructor, teaching kids arithmetic, algebra, trig, calc, geometry, and discrete math. If you have any problem whatsoever, I can be your guide. At school, I'd discuss work with other students, as a tutor (typically in larger courses like calc III, analysis, and algebra), but also as a friend. In either case, the process of learning was fed by question-driven dialogue and the comfort to express confusion at any moment. On the other hand, when I taught as a STEM Instructor for Lavner Education, the kids (ages 6-15) would show their confusion implicitly, through disengaged behavior. Students that became distracted or upset typically had some difficulty with the topic being presented, and required special care through concrete examples, games, and review of previous material that they already understood well. What started as a reaction to disengagement could then be baked into the lesson plan, creating a virtuous cycle that made learning quicker and easier. Send me a message if you're looking for a considerate, knowledgeable tutor in Philly! Together, we can work to maximize your skills so that you'll ace your tests and move forward with a better understanding of the world :)
