I love teaching math because I know what kind of difference it can make to students to succeed in the subject. Students are unique, so what each person needs to succeed in math varies person by person. The students I've tutored have all remarked that they learned well with my help because of my approach to teaching. At the heart of that approach are four foundations: patience, kindness, knowledge and tenacity. I have made use of these, not only in tutoring, but throughout my career as a Technical Leader in Software Engineering, mentoring team members. I found that these attributes have paid off in success again and again for me and my students and colleagues. Patience is important because math is sometimes just hard and can take repeated efforts for a topic to be understood at all, let alone mastered. I am a patient person by nature and that comes through in my tutoring. Kindness allows for a personal connection that opens the door to learning. Kindness says I respect you and I care about your learning. The importance of knowledge in the subject goes without saying. I have a deep knowledge in math that is attested by both of my degrees BS and MS in Computer Science with emphases in Mathematics.
