Hi Y'all! My name is Taryn and I am currently an Educational Interpreter with the K-12 School Systems based in Colorado. I'm 23 and have been signing since I was 13 years old. I love to hike, bike, run and do all the fun outdoor things! American Sign Language is my passion and I am dedicated to tutoring ASL for ASL 1-3 students. I specialize in working with individuals ages 5 - 18 years old and also work with a non-profit here in Colorado that teaches beginner level American Sign Language to both children and adults. My perspective is that wherever you are at in life, American Sign Language can help you no matter what. If you are currently taking classes at a university, I am here to tutor if you want to practice advancing your skills. I am heavily involved in the Deaf community and it's my passion to tutor sign as well as continue learning myself. I consider myself to be a lifelong learner.

    Educational Interpreter

    Sep, 2019 - Present

    Weld RE4 School District

Educational Interpreters are a part of IDEA (Individual's with Disabilities in Education) act, and are considered to be related service providers. In my work as an educational interpreter, I work for the school district and am a necessary part of relaying educational information as well as fostering social and cognitive development for the children I service. Given I work in the school system, I interpret a number of things from educational content, to social situations. My speciality is early childhood and working with youth while interpreting.

    Caretaker for Deaf Children

    Self-Employeed

I have had many years experience working with children who are Deaf, Hard-of-Hearing, and H.I.. I love kiddos and specialize in being able to nanny for long periods of time, immersed in the language to care for them while parents and caretakers are unavailable. This immersion experience has provided me not only with excess vocabulary, but understanding of how the family unit functions when a foreign language is used and the primary means of communication. I have nannied for a number of families over the years.
