In 2004 I graduated from Princeton University magna cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa (top 10% GPA) with a BA in English Literature, receiving the Comprehensive Prize in English, an award recognizing the top writer of the English Department of what was ranked as the #1 university in the country that year.
I also served as Editor-in-Chief of the Princeton Spectator newspaper for two years.
I then moved to Los Angeles and served as James Cameron's assistant during the writing and pre-production of Avatar, also writing a screenplay myself, entitled Wild Child (currently in development).
Since discovering it in my high school English class, Strunk & White's classic writing style manual The Elements of Style has truly been my secret weapon, its 11 "Elementary Principles of Composition" ensuring that I never received below an A- on any written assignment during high school or college, allowing me to graduate from Princeton with a 3.90 overall GPA and a 3.97 in the English Department.
Strunk & White's 11 simple but essential writing rules will serve as the basis of our lessons, in which we will apply them to students' work in order to cement these habits through active application.
