I am a trained organic chemist with a passion for science and math education at all levels. I have a talent for conveying hard-to-grasp concepts in easy-to-understand language primarily through clever analogies and some patience. In particular, I have an intuitive grasp and innovative outlook on organic chemistry and hope to show those who are struggling with the subject unique ways to learn difficult topics. I am a recent transplant to LA (from Seattle) so I look forward to getting to know the area!

If you asked me to describe Richard in one word I would say “Wonderful!” He is not only, smart, but also helpful, and my son really likes to work with him. In fact, my son asked for EXTRA math time with Richard on a weekly basis simply because he likes to work with him. In addition, to my son enjoying his time with Richard, I do as well. He is accommodating and has been helpful to me when I have needed advice for supplemental books, etc. As I said… wonderful!

He is awesome! He has excellent teaching skills and he REALLY cares about his students. After each session, he makes a pdf of the material we went through available for review. Richard has helped me tremendously with organic chemistry. I would highly recommend him!

Richard is hired for tutoring physics for my daughter. Richard met beyond our expectations in many areas. My daughter has the intellectual ability to do better but unfortunately not motivated to give her best shot. It takes certain person to get her motivated and Richard's teaching skills not only worked for my daughter but also built her confidence which lead her to perform better on her tests. He is responsive, punctual and teaches with not only with knowledge, but with enthusiasm and passion. He raised my daughter's physics grade to the next level after only 6 lessons or so. He is able to explain the hard concepts with clarity that made sense to her. My daughter was struggling on a particular area that involves math. However, after Richard's very 1st tutoring session, in her own words "Mom, I finally get it now". Hearing her say that was such a joy and rewarding! I highly recommend Richard if you are looking for a tutor.
