As a teacher, I work in a way that is focused yet easygoing, approaching each individual student's capability in a healthy way. I have taught students ranging in age from 7 to 75, and love teaching any age.
My ballet classes begin with the foundations of classical ballet, with a focus on the details of technique that allow a student to quickly progress in strength, flexibility, and continue to progress to higher levels and possibilities of movement. As a dancer and teacher, I have found that this strong technical foundation is what allows dancers to find the most freedom and expression as artists.
My other movement classes (yoga, stretch, conditioning, Gyrokinesis) always work in the healthiest way for the body, respecting the student's needs and capabilities each day. We begin with an easy warm-up that progresses to larger and more difficult movements. All of my teaching is breath-based, coordinating breath and movement to provide the greatest connection of body and mind.

Hi! I'm Rebecca, a professional ballet and contemporary ballet based in New York. I studied ballet and contemporary dance at the North Carolina School of the Arts and Alonzo King's LINES Ballet. I've danced with Nevada Ballet Theatre, Terra Firma Dance Theatre, Azoth Dance Theatre, Ballet Inc, among other companies and projects in New York. Dance is my life and my passion, and I love to share it with others, on the stage and in the studio. I have been teaching ballet for 5 years, and am currently working with students at Premiere Division, an elite professional training program for ballet dancers.
I learned early on in my career the importance of working in a healthy way that kept me from injury and supported my artistry, one that included cross-training. This led me to yoga and Gyrotonic/Gyrokinesis. I was certified to teach Ashtanga Vinyasa yoga in 2008, and then in Gyrotonic in 2011. These modalities have been a source of strength, flexibility, and focus in my body and mind. They've changed my dancing and my life!
Always the curious learner, I also went to Columbia University while dancing in New York, studying part-time while performing. I graduated summa cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa with a degree in Anthropology in 2016.
I truly love teaching, and hope to get to share the joy of movement with you!

Rebecca is a great instructor! She and I have worked together for many years, and have shared students with each other. I always trust her to take over my ballet classes if I need a sub. She is incredibly attentive, great with technique, and a wonderfully thoughtful person! I’d be happy to recommend her strongly as a teacher.+ Read More
