My personal language studies in both Spanish and Mandarin Chinese have given me firsthand insight into the challenges and triumphs of acquiring a second or third language. With a BA in Speech and Language Pathology (SLP) and a BA in Chinese Language and Culture from Wayne State University in Detroit, MI, I bring a unique and comprehensive skill set to my coaching practice. As a certified BA SLP, I approach accent reduction as a nuanced art. I believe that possessing an accent is natural, yet the ability to control its presence is a valuable asset. Just like an actor adopting an accent for a film role, I guide my students to fluidly master an American English accent. I teach students how to switch an accent "on" or "off" as needed in their professional lives. Beyond my professional pursuits, I am a mother of four daughters and an avid writer, writing poetry for my blog during my leisure time.

I've been working with Rachel for quite some time now and if I were to point out a single thing she's really good at, it's her ability to explain how sounds should be made: where to put your tongue, which lip position to make. If you feel like that's what you need, don't hesitate! But even aside from that you are getting everything you can expect from a top tier teacher she definitely is!
