I am a senior English Literary and Cultural Studies student at the University of Oklahoma. As a teacher, I try to learn as much from my students as they learn from me. Education is collaboration - if a student isn't understanding a concept, I work with them so that they come to comprehend an idea organically. Teaching is less about answers and more about providing tools.
With eight years of forensics and debate experience, I've learned I enjoy coaching and teaching more than winning awards myself. I've taught students in the Oklahoma City and Dallas-areas the foundations of persuasive speech-making for four years and my former students have gone on to become state champions and scholarship-winning competitors for the University of Oklahoma and the University of Central Oklahoma. Additionally, I love to teach students about communication as a concept - whether that be understanding what an author is using language for in a novel or in looking to improve their writing for class.
