Reading with Laura P.

I believe learning should be experienced as an adventure, with learners excited about the journey they embark upon. I engage all learners to contribute their ideas and vision of what they want each learning experience to be like. I use a lot of collaborative learning, group problem-solving, role play games, project-based learning, and creative process development. Specific course types I offer are group creative writing projects; role-playing games to build life skills; animation; storyboarding; character development; developing apps; learning to code, and more! I hold a B.A. in Psychology from Shorter College in Rome, Georgia. I also hold a Masters Degree in Psychology and an Ed.S. in Guidance and Counseling, both from the University of West Georgia. I have taken additional credits in special education at the University of California at San Jose, and I have passed the Praxis test in working with mild-moderate disabilities in all subject areas. In addition to the subject areas mentioned above, I love teaching reading to all kids, special needs, gifted, and both. I live in Oregon, and I am creating an animated educational game and video series called Axolotl Academy. I love drawing, making jewelry, epoxy resin designs, and educational toys. I share my home with two rare and beautiful pets, Beau, a 13 year old part Turkish Van cat, and Mishka Rose, a 10 week old Pomsky puppy. I believe learning should be a valuable adventure, and I live my life as an ongoing adventure.
