    About Lakisha B.

I am an experienced History Professor having taught more than 900 students in just 3 years. I graduated from Texas Southern University with my MA in History and Research and Sam Houston State University with my B.Sc. in Psychology. The diverse settings I experienced teaching at a HBCU (Historically Black College or University) and one of the largest community colleges in Texas I've been blessed to meet and teach a wide range of students from various backgrounds. What's so exciting about history? History in itself is exciting! There are many different ways to approach history, historical events, and people. I want you all to use the innate inquisitive abilities you already possess to become the best historians you can be. Your natural abilities to research your favorite topics will be of great use here. It will be my job to ensure you do so in an ethical manner. While teaching fact based history in class I do expect you to examine those facts and ask the questions, “Why did this occur?”; “Why at this time?”; “Why this person, place, and event?” Do not simply accept these facts at face value, think on the how’s and why’s and the time periods in which they did occur. I am always open to questions that pertain to the course material. I want my us to truly discuss the events taken place in history. No questions is “lame” or “stupid.” I’ll be glad to help you understand the course material and concepts, however learning depends as much on the student’s efforts as it does on the professor.
