- Teaches students:
- Ages 5 to 15 and special needs
- Teaching since:
I have been in the field of education since 2002. I am a graduate of Grand Canyon University, where I received a Masters in Curriculum and Instruction, with an emphasis in reading. My first experience teaching involved me working with a group of energetic 3 – year old preschoolers. I had so much fun that year, that I decided to further pursue my career in education. Throughout my teaching career, I have had the opportunity to work with students from PreK – 5th grade, as well as small groups of middle schoolers. My students come from a variety of communities and environments. Most recently at a STEM school. I approach my lessons using as many interactive, hands on resources as possible.
One of my greatest passions is teaching students to read. For me, I always knew that reading was essential to becoming successful in life. After teaching many children who struggled with reading, I knew I wanted to assist students who needed extra assistance. Since 2007, I have taught a variety of students, including students with exceptionalities, English Language Learners, and gifted students. My lessons are centered around strengthening the foundational skills of reading for my students. Once these skills are mastered, we move on to other reading skills, using various skills and strategies.
