Looking for someone to help you get pumped about a challenging topic? I am your gal! The Lord has blessed me with enthusiasm for learning, and I will show you how to get excited about it too.
I earned my bachelor's degree from Northwestern University in 2003. My highest degree is a PhD in psychology with a specialty in quantitative research methods, which I earned from Vanderbilt in 2012.
As a PhD student I taught courses in introductory statistics and tutored high school and college students in math. When I'm not tutoring, I teach my children, who are 6, 4, and 2, and run a printing business with my husband.
I love to work with students of all ages and skill levels. Click the green button, and let's get started!
I tutor students in 4th-5th grade with my local homeschooling community once a week. Each week we memorize facts in history, English, math, science, Latin, and geography. We complete a science project and a fine arts project, and each student gives a presentation. Finally, we spend some time reviewing all of the facts we learned in previous weeks.
I also support and encourage parents, because they are their students' primary teachers! Classical Conversations offers free parent training every summer.
I tutor in reading and math using the Tutoring Club curriculum, and help students with their homework and test prep. I also help students prepare for the ACT.
My husband and I currently teach reading, writing, and 'rithmetic (as well as Bible, history, geography, English grammar, Latin, science, and art) to our 3 children, who are 6, 4, and 2.
Taught introduction to statistics - including descriptive statistics (mean, median, mode, standard deviation, variance, correlation, regression), probability, and introductory inferential statistics (t-tests, confidence intervals).
Tutored students in high school math and college-level statistics during free time while in graduate school
Kim tutored me during my last semester of my senior year on statistics. I am SO thankful to have learned from her because, not only is she a welcoming person to meet with, but her help on statistics brought my grade average up by almost 2 letter grades!
I actually felt excited about this tough subject because Kim never had to graze over any subjects in the course; she always knew the subject and went in-depth when I needed it.
I worked with Kim on The Study of Mathematically Precocious Youth at Vanderbilt. She is a brilliant statistician and a very patient teacher. She is able to work with the student or advisee on an individual basis by assessing the individual's educational needs. I would highly recommend her to any student who needs help in any field of mathematics.+ Read More
