I try my best to provide a comfortable atmosphere to help my students to develop, refine and heighten their talents. I love to teach performance techniques in voice, music, dance, and various other fine arts activities. I have been an aspiring performer my entire life and have enjoyed every learning experience I have come across. It is because of this that I feel I can help you reach your full potential. It is my goal to share my passion for performing arts with others so that they might become excited about their potential and future. I hope to empower others with the knowledge of using there instrument properly and efficiently so that they may utilize their talents to their fullest potential. Through lessons with me my students will enjoy and flourish in using their talents and become confident in doing so. Both learning and performing should be fun and exciting and that is what my students should know, that I am here to have fun and to help you embrace your natural talents and use them with ease and comfort.

I understand that everyone learns differently and I try to take various approaches to help the student get the most out of each lesson. I encourage my students to be open and honest with me about each aspect or their lesson so that we can, together, tailor a lesson plan that best fits each individual.
I am also CPR/AED certified- this is just one way to make sure your child or you are safe while taking lessons while me.
*** Lesson Details ***
Lessons are designed to better the performances and techniques of a singer, dancer, or actor.
Techniques such as breathing, diction, pitch, tone, posture, rhythm, smoothness, and stage presence will be practiced. I do my best to develop lessons that are tailored to each student based on their individual needs. Lessons start simply with gentle vocal exercises based on humming and open vowel sounds. Each student can expect to be challenged through exciting a stimulating exercises. I also teach techniques to improve posture, poise and vocal performance. I enjoy using simple scales to improve pitch and volume while also working on clarifying the students voice. A students performance, whether they aspire to be a performer, teacher, or just enjoy performing should have a positive self portrait of themselves. We will work on building confidence so we as performers can take pride in ourselves and what we represent. My students are expected to practice outside of the lesson. I also encourage them to keep a practice journal of when and how long they have practiced. It helps the students to trouble shoot areas of their performance and take the opportunity to ask questions during the next lesson.
My students and I will strive to
- To develop an understanding of basic music theory.
- To take responsibility for their musical and vocal growth.
- To reach for improvement and not perfection.
- To work on the memorization of a performance.
- To try their hardest with each lesson.
- To come to each lesson with an idea of what they would like to achieve.
- To constantly sing correct pitches and rhythms in all songs/performances.
- To practice correct posture and breathe support.
- To enjoy their performance and learn to embrace the natural talents they are given.
*** Studio Equipment ***
I work from a loft apartment, consisting of an area next to computer with a home recording studio area for music and keyboard. There is also seating for parents if they desire to attend lessons.
*** Travel Equipment ***
I highly suggest the student have their own keyboard/piano. I do have a keyboard and music along with theory books and lesson plans, but would expect a quiet work environment for the student to pay attention.
*** Specialties ***
In dance I am well educated in every area but my strengths include: Ballet, Tap, Jazz, Lyrical and Modern.
In vocal performance and technique: Opera, Musical theater, Lyric Soprano and Alto
Music: Classical, Contemporary, Rock, Pop, Christian, Country, R&B, Hip Hop
I was very lucky to have found Kelly. I had always dreamed of having artistic talent but I am not a naturally good singer. Within two years, I have gone from singing in the shower to having developed to stage performance. Kelly has taught me so much from the artistic expression of singing to the mechanics of turning my voice into an instrument. She has an incredible ability to listen to my voice and pinpoint the exact adjustment I need to make it sound great. She's such a fun person to be around that I always look forward to my next lesson. Her positive attitude and approach is also a testament to her high level of professionalism. She provides feedback that is positive. but also helps me improve She is the perfect combination of teacher and coach and I would highly recommend her for anyone interested in singing.+ Read More
Kelly has been my 15 year old son's acting instructor for the past three years. Kelly's broad knowledge of acting techniques coupled with her engaging and fun teaching style was a BIG win for my son's self-confidence. Kelly's can do attitude and positive outlook is contagious. She inspires you to want to improve your craft; having fun in the process. Kelly taught my son techniques that are useful in all aspects of communication; skills he can take into his adult life. I would recommend Kelly to anyone who is interested in acting, improv, public speaking or an overall tune up on how to read and respond to social situations. Thanks Kelly!+ Read More
Miss Kelly has been an incredible help to my daughter in learning valuable vocal techniques as well as helping her learn music theory and helping her prepare to study music in college.
I had no experience with singing whatsoever, but wanted to surprise my wife with a song for our renewal of vows ceremony. Kelly was so helpful and knowledgeable and encouraging, and not only did the song go well but I learned that I really do like to sing. She was exactly what I was looking for. I would recommend her to anyone.+ Read More
Kelly has helped me take strides on my singing pathway. I have grown immensely when it comes to controlling my voice and how to properly support it. Whenever a technique is difficult to understand, Kelly will explain it in a technical way and then also break it down in a fun way to make it much, much easier to comprehend. This helps so much because then I learn the terminology and also how to actually do what is being asked of me. Kelly is so knowledgeable on what she teaches that she can create different ways to deliver each technique to her students on the spot in a way that will truly stick with them. The comfortable and positive atmosphere that Kelly creates allows me to really enjoy the singing I am doing and also experiment with my voice and not worry about sounding awful. I am so grateful to have such an encouraging, fun, and knowledgeable vocal coach. She is truly the best!+ Read More
My daughter has been with Ms. Kelly since September 2014 and in that time friends and family have noticed her singing is stronger, she has better range, and she's able to hold notes longer. My daughter has 30 min sessions but within that time, she's learned alot and has better control over her voice. The location is convenient for us. Ms. Kelly is absolutely wonderful with children and adults. A joy and blessing to work with. I look forward to working with her in the future.+ Read More
My son has been working with Kelly for over a year. Kelly is an awesome teacher. She is always trying to come up with something new to keep my son engaged. This is not an easy task as my son has ADHD and can become easily distracted. She has given my son increased confidence and improved his acting chops. Sometimes he has off days due to his anxiety. If he is having an off day when he visits Kelly, she always manages to lift his spirits. He comes out of his lessons excited, happy, and full of life. Kelly has also made some great videos for us to share with family and friends. I simply cannot say enough wonderful things about Kelly! We are lucky to have found her.+ Read More
I learned to play the guitar a couple of years ago and wanted to learn how to add to my arsenal by singing as well along with playing the guitar. I was brutal, tone deaf to the up most degree so I found Kelly online and figured I would give it a go. Kelly is beyond amazing, she makes you feel so comfortable in sessions which was huge because my confidence was low. I have been with Kelly for 5 months now and couldn't be more happy with my progress and confidence to sing. If I could I would see here every day, not only has she help me find my voice and take to where I never thought It could be. My sessions with Kelly are the best part of my week because how fun she makes them. I would recommend Kelly to everyone and anyone from beginner to advance she's truly the best.+ Read More
Before taking lessons with Kelly I had been trying to learn to sing on my own for 3 years. In one month I had made an exponential leap in ability to sing on all levels. Breathing, tone, pitch, projection and then some. Not only vocally but Kelly has been amazingly positive and supporting in my life overall. She makes it very easy to learn with her and breaks down techniques with examples. Wouldn't want to learn with anyone else.+ Read More
Kelly is so sweet and has helped me to be one comfortable with my singing voice. My confidence has definitely improved a lot and my range and breathe strength is improving as well.
Working with Kelly has been a lot of fun. She listens well and tailors her instructions very well. When I have needed additional review she is very patient and supportive. She is a positive person which is a good thing when you are trying to learn new things. I recommend her highly.+ Read More
I did not like taking voice lessons but Kelly make voice lessons easy and fun. Even though we only had 2 lessons, I felt comfortable and learned a lot. I highly recommend her!
Kelly is a great teacher!
Really good teacher, learnt dance, acting, & voice.
Excellent Teacher With Awesome Personality
Kelly is an excellent teacher. In just a few months with her, I have learned so much. My voice has become stronger with no prior training in singing. She is fun with a great personality as well as very encouraging. Every time we're done with a lesson, I leave with a great sense of accomplishment and confidence that pushes me to keep going and wanting to learn more. I took singing lessons to improve my vocal skills in rapping and Kelly has helped me reach that goal along with many others I didn't plan on achieving. I would definitely recommend her to anybody beginning, intermediate, or professional.
After working with Kelly for 3+ months, I feel I have spent enough time with her to give an assessment. Prior to seeing Kelly I had absolutely zero training in singing. I am an improv performer and wanted to develop my singing voice to a point where I would feel comfortable enough to use it on stage. I have truly been astonished with the progress we have made over the last few months. Each week I leave Kelly's home studio feeling like we made a major breakthrough. Probably the best part of Kelly's teaching style is that she is focused on my goals and structures the lessons in a way that allows me to learn best. Kelly provides feedback constantly throughout the lessons, and I always feel like we are maximizing the time we spend together. Even though it has only been a few months, I am much more comfortable with my singing voice and now view it as an asset, as opposed to something that is holding me back. Could not have asked for a better teacher.
fun and professional
My daughter gave me a TakeLessons.com gift certificate at Christmas for what she thought were guitar lessons but I took singing/voice lessons instead (I don't really read music but I've always thought I could sing a little!). I've only had a few lessons, but so far Keely's been great. I was up front about never singing before and she was right on the money with starting me with basic breathing exercises. Just signed up for more lessons and I'm really looking forward to actually seeing if I hold a tune or not!!
I LOVE WORKING WITH THIS WOMAN!! She's very passionate and eager about her work. Her years of experience and wealth of knowledge are the perfect combination to help take my vocal skills to the next level.I always look forward to attending my lessons with her.
Kelly G. is a great musical theater coach
My 13 year old daughter has had five lessons with Kelly G. so far. She is coaching my daughter for musicial theater auditions at performing arts schools. Kelly G. is a very effective teacher who gives great advice and feedback. She builds confidence, has lots of helpful tips and offers practice drills to work on at home. She has a nice personality and seems genuinely interested in the student's progress and success. Kelly also has a beautiful voice.
We look forward to continuing to work with Kelly.

A truly talented and amazing teacher!
We learned a wedding dance from Kelly and coming from a guy with two left feet, she did an awesome job guiding us through and teaching us cool choreography to make us look good! Kelly is extremely professional and takes her time understanding what you want to accomplish and teaches at a great pace where you learn while continuing to move forward. Each lesson progressed very nicely while we learned in her home studio. It was a very comfortable space and we nailed down exactly what we were aiming to do. We learned three types of dance: ballroom, tap, and a swing/bollywood hybrid. Kelly guided us through each and made sure we were comfortable and happy in the end. She even cut the three songs together for us! I would highly recommend Kelly as she has a warm heart, great attitude, and is a wonderful teacher!
Incredible Learning Experience Right From The Start
Kelly has boosted my confidence level with my acting and my self-esteem. She has helped me with the terminology of acting, discovering inner emotions to bring out for scenes/roles, distinctive ticks that show and how to conceal or use them for various parts. She is an incredible teacher, and has made me thankful I found TakeLessons.
