Calculus can be difficult, but with someone to go through the theorems with you and help you work out all the problems, it is very doable. I helped a CLEP calculus student pass her test. This student had no background in linear equations, or trigonometry so we had to study lines together. I created visual exercises, so that she could understand everything in two dimensions. We covered limits, continuity, and then trigonometry (which took a lot of time and was difficult for her). Once we had a clear understanding of lines, and limits, we were able to cover the definitions and theory of differentiation. We did not cover the theory behind integration, but learned all the methods by rote. This very bright person was able to pass the exam. We were both thrilled. She is now a nursing student.
