Over a period of fourteen years at three prominent east coast universities, I have taught sixty courses in English literature and/or composition including writing-intensive English classes (some of these were online), a technical communication class to first-year engineering students, and several sections of writing instruction to freshmen. I spent one semester on staff at a university writing center. I have also served as a writing tutor to a rhetoric course where I met one-on-one with students for weekly conferences. In any writing course, it was my job to assess a student’s strengths and weaknesses, and I can now quickly parse a student essay and determine a program of instruction.
I myself am a writer, having a book published with an academic press, as well as penning several book reviews, a short article, and co-authoring an entry in an encyclopedia published by Oxford University Press.
