Art Theory with Jessica E.

Hi! I am a painter, designer, and teacher. I graduated in 2012 from Pratt Institute with my MFA in painting and drawing. After graduating, I have continued to work either in the design/art fields or as a teacher. I have sold paintings all over the world and currently show online. My collectors range from individuals to hotels. During the pandemic, I took a creative break from art making to focus on my teaching business. I have tutored art history students, beginning artists and emerging artist one-on-one. With emerging artists, I treat our classes like a master studio class, encouraging my students to examine their work from all angles and question how it fits into the world. Beyond art, I also teach English. I was in China for a year until the pandemic hit, then I returned to the US. Teaching art and English are quite similar because the goal is for one to be able to express themselves in a way that they want to be heard and understood. They are both about conversation. I greatly enjoy being about to instigate and expand these conversations with my students.
