Hello! I'm excited to have the chance to help you with your English! I'm a native speaker from Cleveland, OH in the USA and have ten years of experience teaching Accent Reduction and ESL. I've got a BA in Spanish and a Master's in Education with a Graduate Certificate in TESL. My students LOVE me a lot and I always receive high ratings. I also speak fluent Spanish and I'm learning French and Russian, so I know the challenge of mastering a foreign language.
My favorite area to teach is pronunciation and accent reduction, but I can also help you with grammar, reading, writing, idioms, phrasal verbs, vocabulary... you name it! Need help with a presentation? Want me to check your emails? I'm happy to help. In addition, I like to have fun when I teach so that you have fun as you learn. We can incorporate tongue twisters, video, poems, or whatever you are passionate about.
I've also got an Associate's degree in nursing and a background in business, as I was the owner of a food business for 3 1/2 years. So I'd be happy to focus on either medical or business vocabulary if you like. Currently, I live in Mexico with my husband and our pooch, Flaco. I was away from teaching for a few years but I'm happy to be back into it and meeting new friends from all over the world. Like you!
NOTE ABOUT SCHEDULING: in order to get the most benefit in as short a time as possible, I recommend scheduling classes 2 to 3 times a week for 45 to 60 minutes.
I taught the four skill areas in a range of levels from basic to advanced.
I taught all levels of English for community-based classes. I also ran the program by testing and placing students, planning outings, and coordinating a staff of volunteers.
I lived in Mexico for two years and taught a range of students from beginner to advanced in my own English school.
Jeanne is a knowledgeable and insightful teacher. I can apply her techniques right away in my everyday life.
Jeanne is a great teacher!
Jeanne is an excellent instructor that goes above and beyond her duties to make her students succeed. She is a very professional and patient ESL/Accent Reduction teacher. She has a prepared lesson plan (book) and assigns homework (upon request) in between lessons. Her work plan is also flexible upon request of the student, and at least one time, she was delighted to help me improve the pronunciation of one of my projects. She even stayed past the scheduled lesson time so I could meet some of the time constraints of the project. I highly recommended her for any non-native speaker looking to improve his/her accent at an affordable price.Show More
Carol really enjoyed the session and looks forward to working with you!
I enjoyed the lessons so much I purchased 10 more. Her classes are fun, she has a good knowledge of the things she teaches and I really admire how approachable she is. In short everything, I could expect in a teacher. Highly recommended!!
I had the pleasure to work for and with Jeanne at El Barrio/Centers for Families and Children Services. She was the ESL Coordinator and Teacher there and I worked as her Assistant teacher for almost a year.
I saw first hand how quickly students became relaxed with her teaching method, and then quickly advancing their oral, written and reading skills in English. Many of her students when on to get advanced employment and further their education.
Jeanne is a remarkable person with a wide variety of skill sets and resources at her disposal, which will undoubtedly add to her student's learning experience. She will be an invaluable asset to you and her students.
I have known Jeanne for about ten years as an English as a Foreign Language teacher. She is by far one of the most accomplished teachers I have ever had the pleasure to work with. She has the special gift of effectively teaching adults, understands the challenges of adult learning and has enough experience to be able to navigate her students’ learning processes from a variety of perspectives and with individualized strategies.
Her students, without exception, love her. Jeanne is patient - almost without limits, compassionate, funny, culturally competent and determined to see her students succeed. Oh, and did I say that she is great at phoenetics and accent reduction? Do not hesitate in enrolling in a class with Jeanne. You will gain a teacher and friend for life.
I highly recommend Jeanne as a teacher! She is a very experienced teacher, which gives me as the student great confidence in her skills. She has a very warm, kind personality, which makes lessons really fun and enjoyable. Working with her really builds your confidence. I would choose her over any other ESL teacher! Choose her - you will be so glad you did!Show More
I worked with Jeanne when she was teaching ESL at West Side Ecumenical Ministry in Cleveland, and I was a volunteer ESL Teaching Assistant. Jeanne was an excellent and well-loved teacher. Jeanne created a welcoming and fun learning environment for the students in the classroom. She effectively used my skills as a native English speaker by asking me to work with small groups or one-to-one with students who were very new to learning English. Jeanne was adaptable with a changing group of students, all working at different levels, all at the same time. She was an excellent collaborator, and had a good sense of humor, which everyone needs at times when learning a new language! If you are looking to study, Jeanne is a smart choice.Show More
Without her I couldn't of gotten my associate degree. I remembered when I first came to America, I couldn't speak English at all. Since the day she became my ESL teacher, I was able to speak english clearly due her great teaching skills.
Jeanne was an excellent teacher. She used to go to our house and my husband and I improved our English a lot, especially regarding our accents. She is really nice and tries to accommodate the lessons depending on each person's interest.
Jeanne is an excellent ESL teacher! She is dynamic and supportive, and I'm sure these qualities will be evident in an on-line course! She is creative so her assignments will engage the students. Jeanne is dependable, prepared and organized. Jeanne also understands the cultural difficulties students face, and she tailors her activities to the students' needs. I recommend her with no reservations and wish her well in her new on-line endeavor.Show More

Actually Jeanne was my tutor for Spanish in Cleveland, OH. I was progressing along beautifully thanks to Jeanne. She is patient, thorough and will make sure that her students get the best education that is available.
The Best teacher ever, always had a lot of tools to explain her lessons.
As an instructor and a supervisor, Jeanne is a wealth of knowledge! She is an engaging, energetic instructor and a strong and competent supervisor. I would gladly work with or for Jeanne again.
She is the best teacher I have ever had in my entire school life! She understands that it is not easy to learn a different language so she tries to help as much as she can. She is incredably patient, friendly and helpful. I was so lucky to have her as my teacher and I am so glad to meet her. I would give her infinity stars.Show More
